Posted November 11, 201014 yr comment_5458220 Ricky Morton v. Tully Blanchard We are going to get this matchup in various ways a bunch, and while this was a bunch of fun, I am going to go no. I dug Tully cracking Morton in the nuts with Dark Journeys high heel, and JJ Dillion is great on commentary, but the finish was a lame over the top DQ and parts were a little sloppy. I figure the bar is going to be pretty high for this set and I don't think this clears it. Lex Lugar/Ric Flair v. Dusty Rhodes/Nikita Koloff (JIP) Man was the crowd lunatic for these matches, this was too JIP to make a set but I could see this being an extra because of the post match destroying of Dusty with trash being thrown into the ring, crazy shit. Dusty is awesome in anguish. Tully Blanchard v. Barry Windham Great match, long back and forth , with a bunch of cool near falls and a great double noggin knocker. Windham is such a great athlete and all of his moves are really fluid. Tully is great too, with big bumps to the floor. MVP is definitely JJ Dillion on commentary, as he is just hysterical. There is a point where Tully hits Windham with a shoe and JJ is just great insisting it was a crazy woman fan.
June 3, 20169 yr comment_5755831 NWA World TV Title: Tully Blanchard © vs. Ricky Morton (5/26/87) Some good back and forth action to start here and Morton especially is fun raking Tully's face across the top rope and the mat as payback for the past year where the Horsemen did the same to Morton. Dark Journey would give Tully her high heel and he jabbed Morton in the gut with it to give him the advantage. Morton comes firing back though with some desperation shots then hits a DDT but he can't put Tully away. Morton then hits a cross body block off the top rope for a nearfall then he dropkicked Dillon before backdropping Tully over the top rope for the DQ. Fun match but not a nomination especially with that finish. The Super Powers ("American Dream" Dusty Rhodes & "Russian Nightmare" Nikita Koloff) vs. The Dream Team ("Nature Boy" Ric Flair & "Total Package" Lex Luger) (5/19/87) This is JIP and it was really fun while it lasted but the angle afterwards where the Horsemen tried to break Dusty's left leg again was awesome and a definite extra with Dusty's selljob being top notch. NWA World TV Title: Tully Blanchard © vs. Barry Windham (7/19/87) Both men looked very strong here at their specialties as Windham was very strong on offense and Tully was great bumping and selling for everything. Tully hitting Windham with Dillon's shoe was a fun spot and Dillon on commentary was great as some woman was pissed at Dillon for doing it and he said that she threw the shoe not him. This became a total war of attrition with both men being spent but Windham showed the most life as he was hitting Tully with everything he could plus getting shots in on Dillon as well. Tully's bump from the top rope to the floor was great and Windham followed up by pounding on him but Tully was tough as shit and still kept coming not backing down from Windham. Windham hits the Lariat with less than a minute left and Tully barely kicked out then Windham followed up with his one foot dropkick off the top rope getting a nearfall right as the bell rung for the draw. This was a helluva damn match and a solid nomination.
March 5, 20178 yr comment_5790376 NWA World TV Title: Tully Blanchard © vs. Ricky Morton (5/26/87) Ricky with a barrage of punches early. Tully with some fun stooge bumps. Morton's shine was ok. Tully takes over after a miss. Tully with cheap tactics. Morton selling on the outside. Morton with some revenge spots on Tully. Tully uses the shoe and doubles up Morton. We get some more back and forth. The bout felt a little aimless. No vote. Everything else has been discussed.
