Hansen grabs the mic and cuts a mini-promo about his "suspension." Stan Hansen v. Len Hawkins Hawkins gets mauled for a DQ and Martel hits the ring for the save. Stan Hansen interview Rick Martel interviewed by Bill Apter. Apter asks Martel about a Flair v. Martel match up Another Hansen/Martel pull apart. Jerry Oates takes a Lariat Stan Hansen v. Rick Martel This is the SuperClash 85 match. Martel coming to the ring to "Glory Days" by The Boss amuses me. I imagine that a lot of people have seen this and this sort of one that falls in the "will make the Set" pile because of how popular it is. But it deserves to on it's own right. Pre-match crowd brawling is really awesome and this match just as has a big match feel to it from the jump. The knock against this of course is that only about three minutes of this is a "legal" match. But Hansen and Martel brawling on the infield with a cowbell, Martel slamming Hansen on the ground, Martel/Hansen brawling into the dugout with Wally Karbo trying to break them up, "The Frenchman has gone nuts, Stan Hansen was born that way." I don't know. This is like the Tueplo Concession Stand brawl of the AWA. Stan Hansen v. Rick Martel JIP. Some good back and fourth shown with Hansen targetting the neck and Martel making a fiery comeback. Martel ends up winning by DQ as Hansen smashes his back over and over into the ringpost. Stan Hansen v. Rick Martel This is the finish of the title switch with Martel's back being worked on and then winning with the Boston Crab. Stan Hansen interview immediately after title win. Stan Hansen music video to "Bad To The Bone." Starts off with the "fat wife and nine kids" promo. EXTRA Stan Hansen v. Rick Martel JIP, heavily clipped and with French commentary. Basically a higlight reel/outline of a match. What was shown looked like the core of a strong bout. Stan Hansen interview. He calls Martel a "fag," slams down the AWA and says his pride is more important, and threatens to wreck Martel's throat with a horseshoe. Stan Hansen v. Rick Martel This is from Japanese TV, but it is the Hansen title win from the Meadowlands in very near full. Opening Martel flurry is shown with Hansen bumping well for Rick and a cool strike exchange. There is an edit that jumps them ahead about three minutes if you believe the graphic on the bottom of the screen. Martel targets the "Lariat" arm" and is selling his own back throughout. Martel ends up getting hit with a backbreaker from Hansen which is the in for the heat segment. Stan unloads with a variety of suplexes and almost dismissive punches and punts to Martel's lower back. Hansen goes for a big splash but east the knees, with Martel rattling off a series of nearfalls shortly thereafter. Hansen comes back with a suplex after blocking a Martel attempt and then an ab stretch which Martel barely escapes. There is a final Martel nearfall off of a small package and then Hansen locks on the Boston Crab with Martel trying to fight out but Hansen using his head against the turnbuckle for leverage to avoid breaks and ultimately win the match. November 12, 201014 yr comment_5458247 The Japanese version of the switch is the longest available...probably about five minutes of early action missing, but the ring intros and opening bell is shown before the cut, IIRC. Stan Hansen v. Rick Martel JIP. Some good back and fourth shown with Hansen targetting the neck and Martel making a fiery comeback. Martel ends up winning by DQ as Hansen smashes his back over and over into the ringpost. I am of the impression that this is a very short match, so there isn't likely all that much missing from this, believe it or not. Also this comp was made by a fellow named John "Big J" English, not me.
