Posted November 21, 201014 yr comment_5458462 This was JIP, but the 15 minutes that made tape were pretty great. They started with solid, old school working of holds. But the match really took off when Bockwinkel upped his aggression in going after Terry's knee. I loved the way he mixed in nasty little potshots to the leg. The desperate back and forth brawling on the mat when Terry started to break free was awesome. Terry used a nifty Russian leg sweep counter to take momentary control but then sold the leg by collapsing on an attempted suplex. Kudos to Bockwinkel for going right back after the knee at that juncture. I even liked their brawl on the apron to set up Terry's countout win. This was pretty different from any other Terry match nominated and featured all kinds of neat, little touches that we won't see elsewhere. Nomination despite the clip. KHawk Bockwinkel Disc 4
November 21, 201014 yr comment_5458479 Terry Funk vs. Nick Bockwinkel (7/12/83) This is JIP but it doesn't look like we missed too much as they are working holds on the mat which the technical section of the match was well done. Bock then would turn on the aggression working over Terry's right knee relentlessly setting up for the figure-four with Terry selling it like a champ. Funk tries to make a comeback hitting spots but would hurt himself every time allowing Bock to go back to work on his knee then they went to the floor where Bock continued to work on the knee but Terry would knock him off the apron to the floor and rolled back in the ring to get the countout win. I really dug this match a lot as the action here wasn't dull and it was fun watching them work in and out of holds then Terry's selling was great. This moves forward easily.
November 21, 201014 yr comment_5458504 Just another example of why Terry Funk is one of the top performers in the world. I really wish this was on my Funk set. ANyway, solid nomination but I don't know if it is my favorite Bock match on the set. I think the Jumbo match I liked the most beats it easily.
