Posted November 24, 201014 yr comment_5458642 Martha Villalobos/La Diabolica vs. Selema/Vicky Carranza I mentioned before that I wanted to put at least one Martha Villalobos match on the set and I think this is it. All three other luchadoras were very good, and Martha was great, really stiff forearms, really great weeble wobble bumping, they had a couple of really amusing comedy spots and some really pretty standard lucha. Just a well worked fun tag which should make a set. Blue Demon Jr./Super Astro/Mascara Sagrada vs. El Supremo/Espectro Jr./Blue Panther We get a really long opening caida with three great match ups, the highlight is Panther v. Sagrada who just rip it up on the mat, just a textbook example of why Panther is a legend. Super Astro is always amazing to watch too, and we get a little Panther v. Astro which is always great. Meanders a bit in the middle but we get a cool finish run including an insane Astro rolling senton to the floor. Great stuff nomination for sure. Jerry Estrada/Ary Romero/Rick Patterson vs. Javier Cruz/Eddy Guerrero/El Dandy I am going to go three for three on this disc, Fun match with a really great technico team. Best lucha Eddie performance I have seen as he is matched up with the huge Rick Patterson and is really great bumping big and doing some awesome looking throws, every exchange they have is super, and I don't get the sense Patterson is any good. All the Cruz v. Estrada stuff rules too, and El Dandy is El Dandy. Nomination for sure. Disc has a fourth match which gets cut off
October 26, 201113 yr comment_5486763 Martha Villalobos/La Diabolica vs. Selema/Vicky Carranza This was another really fun Martha performance. She wasn't afraid to get rough, and her whole Bracita de Plata routine was great. Sometimes, I thought she was getting a little too cute with it, and I actually thought La Diabolica looked kinda bad here (though she throws a good headbutt, and I loved it when they teased irish whipping Martha into her and she screamed and ran away). Still, the technicas were both really good, and Martha ruled it as usual. I agree with Phil. Low-end nomination. Blue Demon Jr./Super Astro/Mascara Sagrada vs. El Supremo/Espectro Jr./Blue Panther This was sort of up and down at points, but when it was up, it was way up. Even Blue Demon Jr. was bringing it, and you know that's far from a given. Panther was great as always, but I think Astro was the MVP here, really great fired up babyface and did a ton of spectacular stuff on offense. Agreed on this as a nomination. Jerry Estrada/Ary Romero/Rick Patterson vs. Javier Cruz/Eddy Guerrero/El Dandy I dug this, too. I actually really liked Patterson here. Thought he gave a great brawling big man performance, and he took a nice bump over the top rope near the end. Plus his size made all the match-ups against the smaller technicos look extra cool, especially Eddy who, as mentioned, was masterful here. Easy nomination.
July 23, 201213 yr comment_5510886 La Diabolica & Martha Villalobos vs. Vicki Carranza & Selene (10/6/89) This was the best of the Martha matches I've watched today as her opponents were up to task and held their own against her. Diabolica wasn't much but it didn't matter as Martha carried the load for her side. I think if we put a Martha match on the set this is the one so I'll back it as a low-end pick. Blue Demon Jr./Mascara Sagrada/Super Astro vs. Blue Panther/Espectro Jr./Supremo (10/6/89) The 1st fall here was pretty damn fun as everyone shined here working against each other especially Panther & Sagrada who ripped it up on the mat. Astro was so damn athletic as he was fluid in everything he did and it was fun watching him frustrate Supremo. Demon even worked hard here which was a minor miracle. It does slow down in the 2nd fall which wasn't a bad thing really as the rudos asserted themselves pounding on the tecs especially Astro who took a beating well. The last fall was really solid as everyone stepped their game up like in the 1st fall with Astro being awesome hitting some fun offense especially the somersault senton to the floor along with a great punch to the face of Espectro. Sagrada's crushing tope suicida to Espectro was pretty damn good as well. Damn fun match and a easy nomination. "El Puma" Jerry Estrada/Rick Patterson/Ari Romero vs. Javier "El Monarca" Cruz/El Dandy/Eddy Guerrero (10/6/89) Odd rudo team but that tecnico team is pretty damn awesome. Patterson is usually a slob but damn if Eddy doesn't bring out the best in him. Cruz & Estrada's feud hasn't died and is going through a rebirth so they have some great exchanges together and well Dandy is Dandy so you know you are getting good stuff from him. Romero had his moments as a bruiser and was a good contrast to his partners. Eddy was the shining star here as he put on a really solid performance putting this over the top as a nomination.
