Posted November 29, 201014 yr comment_5458849 Julio Dinero v. Chilly Willy This is interesting because Willy works de facto heel here when the crowd shits on his minstrel show gimmick. I had not figured Norfolk, VA to be bastion of progressivism on racial issues, but it's clear they are agitated by Willy's shucking and jiving and to his credit Willy goes with it and has fun antagonizing the crowd and playing a decent basic heel. The Dupps v. Tom Marquez/Super Crazy The opening run of big offense from the faces was fun up until Marquez threw his typically awful top rope dropkick. He ended up going FIP, with the Dupps working a suitable heat segment. This was by the numbers but I was relatively appreciative of the "by the numbers" approach here. Crazy's post-hot tag work wasn't very hot though. Kid Kash v. Little Guido This was okay. Guido's Fujiwara takedown looked less cool than normal here because of the camera angle. Some of the chops in this were pretty stiff. I liked Guido's heeling in this a whole, whole lot, but Kash's offense looked really shitty at times and there was a badly telegraphed spot down the stretch. Nova/Chris Chetti v. The New Dangerous Alliance Some good punches from Anderson and Nova's FIP wasn't a total nightmare but this is nothing I would ever really want to see again. Mikey Whipwreck v. Raven The crowd is insanely into Raven here and this is just a steamrolling of Mikey which pissed me off beyond belief. Baldies v. Masato Tanaka/Pitbull 1 This sucked. Not even Grimes flying around could save this as they fucked up too many of his big spots along the way. Simon Diamond v. Tommy Dreamer Tommy hits Diamond with props and then they go through the overblown comedy shit with Francine and Simon's personal manservant before the finish. Eh. Impact Players v. Danny Doring/Roadkill Fast paced with lots of Credible blabbering and bullshit. Rhino v. Mike Awesome This was supposed to be a bomb throwing sprint, but it didn't really feel like a sprint and the bombs weren't really very impressive. Passable match, but nothing special.
