Posted December 1, 201014 yr comment_5458923 Chris Candido v. Chris Chetti This was amazingly good for Chetti match, largely because Candido was really on his A game. Early on they establish Chetti as the dominant mat grappler and they do a cool spot with Candido hanging himself upside down in the ropes by his feet which was a staple spot of his that always worked pretty well. He ends up coming in and throwing some absolutely nasty looking jabs and then catching Chetti with a nice looking powerslam. The crowd chants boring so Candido throws him to the floor, but this doesn't devolve into a garbage affair. Some really cool hope spots and change ups in this one. For example Candido actually connects with his diving headbutt for a nearfall. He busts out a really looking enziguri and powerbomb to cut off Chetti comeback attempts. Chetti ends up hitting a nice superplex, followed by a moonsault attempt that Candido just avoids. The finishing move was a piledriver that Chetti desperately tried to fight off. You get the feeling that wasn't supposed to be the finish though as the ref counts to three, argues with Candido about Chetti supposedly getting his shoulder up when he clearly didn't, and then they ring the bell and award Candido the match anyhow. Aside from the somewhat awkward circumstances of the fall and a slight flub on an earlier piledriver escape from Chetti this was a really strong match. Probably the best Chetti match I've seen and a top two or three Candido in ECW match thus far. Mikey Whipwreck/Spike Dudley v. PG-13 Pre-match stuff with PG-13 is really great, especially Ice pointing to a mid-rope licking Spike and talking about how it proves that there really are people who "fuck their mothers and brothers and sisters." Ice actually has his own mic and refuses to take his shades off and is still shit talking fans when the bell rings to the point where Mikey is literally cracking up in the corner. Wolife ends up beating on Spike, but Spike counters with a series of roll ups and then an arm drag followed by an arm bite. Criss cross spot ends with Wolfie getting kicked in the balls, Ice getting dropkicked to the floor and the double plancha onto PG-13. They do the bit where Ice can't slam Mikey, so Mikey slams him. Then PG-13 accidentally elbow drop each other about ten times before bailing to the floor. Ice ends up getting on the house mic and declaring that he will abandon Wolfie if that happens again and then they end up hugging. Spike comes in and gets his head taken off on a misdirection clothesline from Ice. Spike goes FIP. Really cool spot with Spike getting rana'ed into a turnbuckle headfirst. This prompts Ice to get on the mic and say 'that's how we treat our women in the South, just smack them in the face like the bitches that they are." Good powerbomb from Wolfie and a cool dropkick/russian legsweep combo. Spike hits a desperation double DDT and then gets a hot tag. Cool finish with Wolfie crotched up top to set up the diving dropkick/schooboy pin. Not as good as the other tags we have from these two, but still worth consideration. Taz chokes out Spicolli after an angle where Shane puts Louie in the match as a sub. Less than a minute of "match." I have no clue what to even call the next segment as it was a "match" I guess involving Kronus, Dudz, Pitbulls, FBI, Gangstas all who came out at random points and some of whom were obsessed with getting the fall whereas others didn't care. Shitty and bizarre. Bobby Duncam Jr. v. Axl Rotten Duncam took a good bump early but the rest of this was just two dudes wandering around and hitting each other with chairs. Pretty disappointing actually. Balls Mahoney v. Bam Bam Bigelow This was one of those matches where it really felt like Bam Bam did not want to be there. He did a few cool things and stiffed Balls once or twice, but for the most part he seemed like he couldn't care less. Finish was stupid looking. Rob Van Dam v. Sandman Sandman's highspots with him doing crazy shit literally dangling from rafters ruled. Van Dam's offense sucked however. Sabu v. Tommy Dreamer We loose part of this match to an equipment malfunction. What's shown is a pretty standard Dreamer brawl, with the obligatory Sabu spots including a table bump. This was better than I'm making it sound though realistically it wasn't anything special.
