Posted December 6, 201014 yr comment_5459761 John Kronus v. Louie Spicolli This sucked. Super Nova v. Marty ? Nova teasing a dive just to be a dick was pretty funny. Really this was just a silly match with tons of Nova bullshit. FBI v. Los Cholos I have no clue who Los Cholos are but they are basically doing stereotypical Mexican Gangsta gimmick and are not terribly convincing at it. Guido shit early was fun and silly and he got ridiculously high on a back body drop. FBI ends up fleeing in frustration after a bodypress and then one of the Cholos hits a crazy tope where he almost kills himself and the FBI. FBI work a decent heat segment, but the Cholos are not terribly compelling defensive wrestlers. Finish with the flagpole was botched and pretty much sucked. Axl Rotten v. Chris Chetti Axl was really awesome in this talking shit to Chetti, throwing short punches, hamming it up for the crowd, et. This is almost worked like Chetti's initiation into ECW and Axl literally drags him around ringside, hits him with weapons fans hand him, and milks every shot for everything it is worse. Chetti does a good job selling this which helped out. Too much of a squash to rate, but a fun squash. Jason/Bobby Duncum Jr. v. Mikey Whipwreck/Spike Dudley Loved the opening sequence with Mikey recovering from being dumped on the floor with a blindside double bulldog and then the double dives by the faces onto Jason and Duncum. Spike controls Jason but telegraphs a back body drop and gets hit with a nice tiger driver which brings in Duncum. Duncum hits a big powerbomb but pull Spike up on the cover. They throw Spike to the floor and isolate him working him over with chairshots, shots with Duncum's cowbell, et. Jason brought some surprisingly fun stuff during his portion of the control segment and Spike working a series of roll ups as hope spots was effective. Spike gets the hot tag off of missed elbow from Jason. Duncum takes an insane bump to the guardrail off of a Mikey dropkick. Amazingly the heels comeback on Mikey and take him down hitting a nice double shoulder tackle and a sequence of elbows. Finish is cool as Duncum hits Jason with a big boot leading to a Mikey roll up as Spike lunges at Duncum. This was not a great performance from Duncum, but this is the first match of his that I think really merits a serious look. Big Dick/D-Von/Bubba Dudley v. Shane Douglas/Chris Candido/Bam Bam Bigelow Bubba bumping for ranas and arm drags from Candido and then having Douglas of all people run laps around him was entertaining way to open the match. Candido ends up taking his trademark bump to the floor and D-Von passes a chair to Bubba but Shane dropkicks it into his face. Bubba eats some big suplexes from Douglas and Bigelow and actually ends up getting a hope spot on a clothesline. Fans are treating the Triple Threat as babyfaces in the match so the structure is a bit odd at this point, but Dick executes a shitty chokeslam from the apron on Shane to change the tide of the match allowing Bubba to tag D-Von in. Shane's FIP was worked okay but I just can't buy him in that role when he is in 'Franchise" character. Decent enough teased fall off the 3D with Candido and Bammer making the save. Sadly this match really devolved into dogshit at the finish with a big cluster, an awful Bam Bam dropkick, and a weak pinfall. Taz v. Wolfie D Wolfie's ridiculous pre-match shit talking was awesome. Wolfie throws clotheslines early but Taz pops up. Taz with a nice suplex so Wolfie calls a "timeout." Taz with a Judo throw and an armbar and Wolfie bails again. Taz with a single leg and a single leg crab and Wolfie is on the floor again. Taz starts screaming curses as Wolfie as he beats him but Wolfie hits him in the nuts and takes over. Wolfie unloads with some really good punches that Taz actually sells. Wolfie with a running fist drop or two to Taz who is in the tree of woe which was just awkward looking. Wolfie gets crushed with a t-bone tazplex coming off the ropes and to taz credit he sells the brunt of the previous punishment and Wolfie actually hits him with a hubcap to retain momentum. Wolfie misses his flip splash and Taz locks on the Tazmission for the finish. This was a fun match and a good bit better than expected. Rob Van Dam v. Balls Mahoney Balls took a huge bump to the barricade right at the jump here to set up the RVD hilo. I really did not care for most of this but RVD took an insane bump on the Minchinoku Driver, Balls actually hit his legdrop and man the chairshot was sickening too. Finish sucked though. Tommy Dreamer v. Sabu I really enjoyed this though not enough to nominate it. It just seemed like these two were really trying to kill each other. Sabu's big dive looked brutal, Dreamer hit a diving cut off clothesline that looked epic, Sabu spiked Dreamer with a rana, the finish looked nasty. There were some really choppy parts but this was another one that was better than expected.
