These two almost always have good matches together and this was no exception. One of the the things I like about their matches is that Scorp has big spots but works at a deliberate pace which means you get a real heat section plus big spots and the pay off is some cool Sabu car crash style stuff. Scorp hits a nasty looking standing roundhouse at one point, a really sweet flip legdrop from the second rope, et. He does an insane looking spot where he curls forward on a Vader Bomb and ends up in a flip senton landing. Scorp takes too long setting up a superplex and gets crotched leading to a spot where Sabu rana's him off the rope he is straddling. Scorp does a good jobbing taking Sabu's offense and making it look brutal, including a clothesline to the back of the head and the old Air Sabu staple. Sabu ends up going for a top rope rana but crotches himself and gets knocked to the floor by a clothesline. Scorp ends up losing control when Fonzy trips him off the ropes and Sabu sets up a table. Naturally the match has gone fairly smoothly so Sabu nearly fucks up the table spot but it works out okay as Scorp sits up on his semi-flubbed legdrop attempt sending Sabu crashing to the floor. This has a stupid ass finish with RVD running out and helping Sabu win and it was not the best match these guys had but it was very good.

Sabu vs. 2 Cold Scorpio (3/14/98)

- Cool opening with Sabu going for Scorp’s leg but getting punted in the face. Man, Scorp is being a real jerk in this and I am digging it. So far, up until the big dive from Sabu to Scorp on the outside, I like this one much more than the last handheld I watched. I don’t know why but they didn’t really break out the insane posts or the furniture in the first ten minutes but it made the match better for it. This felt like a real fight. They start using a chair for Sabu’s spots but this flet like the right time to up the violence ante anyway. Great spot as Sabu springboards to Scorp on the turnbuckle but gets crotched and then clotheslined to the floor by Scorpio. Great table spot as it looks like Sabu whiffs a table leg drop but Scorp actually sat up and dodged the drop to take control. Oh, by the way, The ending sucked and I hate Fonzie, the only blemish on an otherwise excellent match. Solid Nomination.

I liked this match a good bit, but I don't think there was a single thing about this match I liked better than the 96 match you weren't too high on. I'm thinking picking the Sabu/Scorp matches to appear on this might be one of the bigger points of contention we have.

"Homicidal, Suicidal, & Genocidal" Sabu vs. 2 Cold Scorpio (3/14/98)

 

These two have great chemistry against each other so this should be fun. Scorp works a rougher style here early which Sabu counters with a nice German Suplex to take the advantage. Sabu would hit a big dive to the floor but Scorp would soon regain control using a methodical hard hitting style culminating with a hard powerbomb and a somersault legdrop off the top rope. Sabu fought back though with an awesome huracarana off the top rope on a crotched Scorp also on the top rope that led to a Sabu offensive barrage until he fucked up a leap and crotched himself with Scorp hitting a lariat off the top rope sending him to the floor. This leads to both men going all out with Sabu fucking up the leap on the top rope then hitting all table and missing Scorp who was laying on the table. Scorp hits a huge 450 splash before a ref bump which brings out RVD who hits the 5 Star Frog Splash but Scorp kicks out of that. Sabu would finish him off though with a springboard DDT to win. This was a damn good match mainly thanks to Scorp as Sabu had some bad moments but there is enough here to push this forward.
