FBI v. Tajiri/Super Nova

Holy shit the pre-match is great as the whole FBI is out including Rich, Big Guido, and Sal E. Rich gets them fired up and then Smothers adds fuel to the fire on the mic. Tajiri is mocking Rich for having round eyes which is hilariously awesome and Guido is screaming at the crowd. Guido starts to do the Smothers hand clap to warm the crowd gimmick and Tajiri stops it by leaning over and slapping the canvas. Opening mat exchange was fun. Tajiri gets slapped to shit which he sells great. He comes back with some kicks including a springboard enziguri and is still selling the slap. Hell he is selling the slap even after the next exchange. Guido bails to the floor and crowd starts chanting faggot so Smothers rips off his shirt in anger and then starts simulating double fisting cocks. Guido gets in the ring and starts screaming at Tajiri. Tajiri just looks at him so Guido starts screaming at him in obviously fake Japanese gibberish was is great. Smothers trips Tajiri coming off the ropes but Guido misses an elbow drop and Tajiri ends up hitting a tope con hilo onto both of them for a huge pop. They do an elaborate sequence that ends with Tajiri hitting a dropkick to the leg and then a knee bar. Smothers runs in and they start double teaming Tajiri which brings out Nova. God damn does Nova's early offense suck. They recover pretty quick due to the bumping of the FBI as they take everything really well. Ends up being Tajiri and Guido alone again and Tajiri kills him with a brainbuster. This had to be one of Tajiri's first matches in ECW which may be why they paired him off with Nova here on the impromptu tag. As much as I don't like that "run-in and change match from singles to tag" staple of ECW, I do love the FBI and I do love Tajiri and this is a unique look at both so I will pass this through on the low end even though I think this is likely to miss the set or maybe wind up as an EXTRA.

Rod Price v. Tommy Dreamer

Almost a move for move replication of their 12/6/98 match.

Tommy Rogers/Chris Chetti v. Roadkill/Danny Doring

Opening exchange is pretty good with Rogers and Roadkill and ends with an insane spot where Rogers deadlifts Roadkill and Chetti hits a body press onto him while he's in the Devastation Device position. Was not found of the Roadkill/Chetti exchange but Roadkill just dragging Chetti against his will to the floor when he fudged up a spot in the ropes and then dropping him with a guardrail shot on the floor was nice. Chetti FIP was decent enough. I thought Rogers looked pretty good coming off the FIP, but they did another one of those Billy Wiles ringing the bell gimmicks to lead to the screwjob.

Skull Von Krush v. John Kronus

This was fairly well structured and had some cool spots like Kronus taking a big dangerous looking bump on the floor. But man does Krush every come across as a guy who is trying super hard to be INTENSE RASSLER! Overall this was a pretty decent match given who was involved but Skull's act is not one I'm buying.

Justin Credible v. Spike Dudley

I am a fan of stalling but Justin Credible stalling always pisses me off because I know the pay off is going to be weak as fuck. I liked this better than their previous match though it wasn't great. Spike was awesome selling the leg which Credible targeted. The problem is that Credible's offense doesn't live up to his name and by the time Spike made his abbreviated comeback I was almost totally uninterested in the match. Credible ends up really killing Spike with a cane shot here and then they do the payback finish from the Dreamer match with Dreamer costing justin this time.

D-Von/Bubba Dudley v. Axl Rotten/Balls Mahoney

The pre-match mic work that set this up as another reckless brawl was a lot of fun and got the crowd going real good. Camera follows Axl as he takes D-Von on "a litle walk," beating him with weapons in the crowd and hamming it up for the fans and the camera. They brawl all over the place and there is a really great camera angle as Axl is trying to toss D-Von off a balcony and you have the camera right over their shoulder panning down at the fans who are just swarming to the scene of an attempted homicide. This segment just goes on and on and they go back and fourth on offense. Axl is bleeding pretty badly when they get back to the ring and Big Dick is in the ring helping the Duds destroy the faces. Axl gets put through a table and disappears. He comes back with his barbed wire baseball bat and they actually when the match with a legdrop with the wire onto D-Von. This is not a set worthy match really but I had a lot of fun watching it.

Shane Douglas v. One Man Gang

I wanted to like this, but it just seemed like a longer version of their previous match where they tried to do more despite the fact that both of these guys are "less is more" type wrestlers. They did try here and there was some cool stuff, but I hated the shit with the girls and I didn't think this was anything worth going out of your way to see.
