Posted December 10, 201014 yr comment_5460137 This is one of the best pre-match Tommy Rich segments ever as he just goes off and gives an absurdly long ring introduction of both Guido and Smothers and then starts talking about his ring jacket, Japan and a bunch of other crazy shit. He is clearly drunk off of his ass and it is great. Saturn had just hurt himself so Kronus has to go alone early. It is actually amazing how wel lthey segment this as Kronus gets over early with flashy stuff, gets taken over by double teams, tries to work some hope spots, et. But constantly gets cut off by the numbers of the FBI. Tommy Rich takes his shirt off and is running around ringside clapping like the Boogie Woogie Man as Kronus writhes in pain. Saturn is on the floor in his cast and trips Smothers coming off the ropes. Rich goes to get involved but Saturn flattens him with a chair. Saturn gets in the ring and stunners Guido, then holds the ropes down causing Tracy to fall to the floor. Kronus with the 450 for the finish as Rich runs in and tries to make the save. This was a shit load of fun and ought to at least be watched.
December 11, 201014 yr comment_5460185 FBI vs. Eliminators (6/6/97) - Saturn is injured so Kronus is taking them on alone. Good tag teaming by the FBI and Kronus is looking solid. I usually don’t like watching Kronus but in this setting, he looks alright. As far as handicap matches go, this is a step below Hayes-SST and that didn’t break onto the Texas set proper so I can’t see this one making its way on this set. Plus, I hated the finish. This is a case where the FBI absolutely should have won. It just feels wrong. I think the Eliminators match I watched yesterday was better and we have so many great FBI matches. No vote.
February 2, 201114 yr comment_5463823 Handicap Match for the ECW World Tag Titles: John Kronus © vs. The Full Blooded Italians (Little Guido & Tracy Smothers) (6/6/97) Holy shit is Tommy Rich fucking awesome before the match doing the intros and just pontificating in general. Kronus starts out very strong going to war on the FBI as Rich was on the floor trying to start a riot even featuring him taking his shirt off posing. The numbers game caught up with Kronus as the FBI took turns beating on him both singly and in double-teams. Saturn would whack Rich with a chair on the floor then hit the Saturn Cutter on Guido before Kronus finished him off with the 450 for the win. This was a great segment with everything you wanted from the FBI pretty much and a pretty damn good performance by Kronus. This moves forward fairly easily.
