Lynn was a pretty dynamic motherfucker in this and the crowd was hot as hell. Loved Lynn's diving leg drop and his rolling senton off the stage looked really cool. Douglas was good in full blown retreat mode during all this and when he came back with a series of crotch shots onto steal supports it seemed like an appropriate way for him to mount a counterattack. Lynn gets bumped face first through a table and Douglas hits his reverse rolling neck snap which I always thought looked sick when a guy took it right and Lynn took it right. Cool reset spot off of a double cross body coming off the ropes. Awesome splash to the floor from Lynn which Douglas took and sold great. Lynn with a top rope rana and diving legdrop for good nearfalls. Douglas with a brief comeback but Lynn blocks a superplex attempt with a top rope sunset flip. Douglas ends up hitting a belly to belly off a reversal for the finish. This would have been a slam dunk with a better finish, but the belly to belly (even though it was Shane's established finisher) felt really flat as the finish here. Still a really good match.
December 15, 201014 yr comment_5460422 Shane Douglas vs. Jerry Lynn (3/6/98) - Damn, Jerry starts off his shine viciously going to the outside, cracking a chair on Douglas and diving from the stage. Douglas tries to fight back but Jerry keeps countering. Douglas turns the tide with a crotch on the rail and then a crotch on the ringpost leading to Jerry going through a table. Nice back and forth and Souglas is really eating Lynn’s offense. Super hot stretch run with Shane’s belly to belly getting the pin. Similar in structure to the Mikey match with the same result. However, both were really good matches and I have no problem with both being featured on the set.
February 9, 201114 yr comment_5464161 ECW World Heavyweight Title: "The Franchise" Shane Douglas © vs. Jerry Lynn (3/6/98) This is a fresh matchup and I loved Lynn calling Douglas a Flair wannabe with Douglas going after him and Lynn goes to war on Douglas in and out of the ring hitting him with a nice chairshot then hitting a tope con hilo off the stage. Lynn continues this barrage and really looks good until Douglas crotched him on the rail and Francine followed up with a kick to the balls. Douglas goes on offense which wasn't that hot but Lynn would fight back hitting a big plancha from the top rope to the floor which got the crowd into it. Lynn had Douglas reeling getting in some nearfalls but all the fans want to see is Francine's tits. Douglas got the win on a very desperate belly-to-belly suplex to retain his title ending a damn good match. Lynn should've gotten more matches against Douglas because he really helped Shane look good here. This is a solid pick.
