This saved a show that prior to this was a total waste of time. Opening mat exchange was really great as they worked some great leverage escapes around with armbar as a base and smoothly transitioned into a test of strength spot with some cool bridge outs from Douglas and a diving Scorp reversal. Scorp getting caught with the double knees as the transition to a control segment from Douglas was a good fit and I thought Douglas did a good job heeling and keeping things interesting. There were some fun cut offs in this and I liked how Scorp's big offensive run was more of a flurry reaction, than his typical series of big moves as it felt a little different. Shane took a nice face plant bump right before the finish and they ended up going with a belly to belly off the top as a counter for the finish. It didn't look all that great (more hip tossish than suplexy to be honest), but I still thought it was a solid finish and a good match.

ECW World Heavyweight Title: "The Franchise" Shane Douglas © vs. 2 Cold Scorpio (3/7/98)

This is another fresh matchup with Douglas who is on a run defending against the normal opponents. Some good matwork to start the match as they were feeling each other out with some cool test of strength spots mixed in. Scorp then went on offense keeping Douglas reeling before getting knees in the ribs as he came off the top with a splash. Douglas hit a nice piledriver then worked over Scorp's neck but Scorp would make a comeback hitting some big moves until Shane hit another one of his desperate belly-to-belly suplexes this time off the top rope to finish him off. Another fun Douglas defense here and another solid nomination.

2 Cold Scorpio vs. Shane Douglas (3/7/98)

- Really enjoyed this early on as Scorp sticks to a ground game and controls the arm. Hell, I thought the test of strength sequence was also really well done and that is one of the most played out spots in wrestling. It picks up with a couple of well placed Scorpio superkicks but Douglas eventually regains control. Nice lead in with Douglas working the neck so that friggin chinlock looks painful and meaningful leading to a nice Scorpio electric chair counter. Great hot stretch with a sweet top rope belly to belly putting it away. Easy nomination where I stand.
