Posted December 23, 201014 yr comment_5460943 Man I could watch Blackwell take a dropkick all day long and Bravo hitting a crossbody for a nearfall was kind of surreal given the kind of wrestler he would turn into by the time he got his run with Vince. Faces target Patera's arm with some pretty good work and I really like how they would come up for highspots like Bravo's cross body, plus I thought Patera's selling was really sound. Watching Patera inch to the corner again after getting a nearfall on a bodyslam attempt that went bad for Steve O was interesting. This was starting to get really good and we got a clip and when they come back Steve O is FIP. Damnit. It was a pretty good heat segment but it's not the same when you don't know what the "in" was. Really great spot with Blackwell missing a splash and Steve O doing a slow crawl to a hot tag only to get clubbed in the back by Blackwell at the last possible second. Really cool hot tag as Steve leapfrogs over a back body drop attempt and tags on the way down. Brave hits a series of three dropkicks onto Blackwell and then gets him up for a body slam which gets a massive pop. Patera ends up tagging in and he takes a sweet delayed bump, and then an atomic drop. Fucking great finish as Steve O gets Patera up in an airplane spin and Blackwell just walks up and kicks his legs out and then splashes him putting Patera on top for the fall. Even with the bad edit and knowing that some of this is lost I think this is a nomination just on the strength of the critical home stretch spots alone.
April 16, 201213 yr comment_5500272 AWA World Tag Titles: Crusher Blackwell & Ken Patera © vs. Dino Bravo & Steve O (8/28/83) Blackwell is awesome here taking punishment from Bravo here who was fired up and hitting all kinds of big moves as the fans go nuts. Patera comes in and both heels bump like crazy here with Bravo just throwing fucking bombs on Blackwell's head. Patera gets isolated next and the fans look good in their shine segment with Patera's selling adding to it. Here comes a big problem though as Steve O was working on Patera's arm we get a clip and come back with Blackwell in the ring working over Steve's back in the FIP segment. This was pretty good though as Steve was solid at getting the fans into his pain with his selling and the heels were just as good working him over. Blackwell would miss a big splash but Steve couldn't get the hot tag as Blackwell desperately stopped him although it wasn't too long after that that Bravo came in and he teed off on the heels. This now turned into a back and forth slugfest with both teams getting shots in before Steve got Patera in an airplane spin which saw Blackwell come in to kick out his legs then splashing him with Patera covering for the win. I hope there is a more complete version of this to see how we got to the FIP section because the rest of this was really damn good. This moves forward easily.
May 7, 201213 yr comment_5501961 Pretty sure there is a more complete version available. Any idea where the more complete version would be?
May 7, 201213 yr comment_5501977 I'll double check but if I haven't found it by now I likely was incorrect in my assessment.
May 10, 201213 yr comment_5502247 Ok I just checked the version on Blackwell #6 again and it clocks in at 19:20 with intros. I would suggest that the transition that is missed is minimal and I would hope that if it isn't pushed forward it's not based on that very small missing piece, because what is missing isn't much.
May 11, 201213 yr Author comment_5502314 This was listed as low end primarily because of that edit, which really wasn't much. It's going to be on the set.
