Posted July 3, 201015 yr comment_5452669 AWA World Tag Titles: Sheik Crusher Blackwell & Sheik Ken Patera © vs. Blackjack Mulligan & Jerry "The King" Lawler (3/4/84) This is from Chicago and Mulligan/Lawler is quite the interesting team. Blackwell talks shit before the match so the faces jump the heels before the match would go to normal. Blackwell bumps all over the ring for the faces with Lawler hitting his key spots and Mulligan lumbering around before getting the tag to Patera. Lawler would tee off with his awesome punches with Patera selling them hard but he would cheapshot Lawler into his corner and with Blackwell's help the champs got the advantage. Blackwell used the Samoan Drop and his was effective because he was so fucking big and that was a lot of weight on your ribs. Lawler was fun here as the FIP taking punishment and getting the heat featuring a nice spot where Patera & Lawler both caught each other with a punch at the same time but Patera would hook Lawler by the neck rolling them to his corner so he could tag Blackwell in. Blackwell would miss a falling headbutt allowing Lawler to get the hot tag to Mulligan who started throwing shots before tagging Lawler back in who just teed off on Blackwell before bringing Mulligan back in who hit Blackwell with his clothesline but Sheik Adnan Kaissey would smash Mulligan with his cast as the ref was trying to break up Lawler & Patera allowing the champs to retain. The faces would attack the heels after the match and Mulligan would get a pin on Blackwell with Lawler counting making the fans happy. This was a fun match no thanks to Mulligan but Lawler held his own here and the champs were good as a heel team. This moves forward.
July 4, 201015 yr comment_5452721 The reason for the Lawler/Mulligan pairing, admittedly odd even by AWA wrestler mis-mash tag team standards, was that Blackjack Lanza was getting an AWA Title shot on the same card vs. Jumbo Tsuruta.
December 25, 201014 yr comment_5461040 Another one from Japanese tv but took place in the U.S. Lawler does some cool rapid fire punch spots early. Really liked the Blackjack/Blackwell exchange that ended with Jerry doing a delayed collapse and then Patera reluctantly tagging in. God damn the close ups of Lawler's punches on Patera really shock you with how great they are. Lawler ends up stumbling into the heel corner with the end result being a Blackwell avalanche, but Blackwell misses the follow up splash. Lawler fires back but misses a diving legdrop of all things and ends up taking a Samoan Drop. Lawler FIP was fun as the heels worked the back and Lawler did some nice selling making a bearhug look interesting among other things. Damn Lawler's selling of the Blackwell falling headbutt was really great now that I think about it. A rare double punchout spot with Patera/Lawler with both guys punching/selling it great. Blackwell misses a second falling headbutt and the faces comeback. Holy shit the double fisted Lawler punching attack is awesome. Blackwell is just great as the heel getting his ass kicked in this and actually makes Blackjack's lariat look good. The finish sucked and I didn't like the flow to this as it felt really unnatural at times, but overall this was good stuff.

May 14, 201213 yr comment_5502556 Not sure this should be in "Doubt." I didn't give it an overwhelmingly positive review, but it was a match I liked. Not trying to be a nitpicky fuck, but this really seems like it should have the arrow symbol rather than the "eh" face at minimum.
May 29, 201213 yr comment_5504599 I really liked this a lot. It was an entire match of The heels selling for Mulligan and Lawler punches until the tide turns when Lawler misses a FLYING LEG DROP. Lawler makes an appropriate FIP and it feels more natural than when Lanza was taking turns with Hennig as FIP. The Lawler punch barrage at the end was awesome as was the Mulligan lariat. I wish the lariat ended the match but ot as egregious as the shitty Blackwell-Brody match or the Lanza tag. Easy nomination in my eyes.
