Posted December 28, 201014 yr comment_5461131 Cuban Assassin v. Lou Garvin I am guessing that I liked this way more than I should have. Cuban Assassin being the babyface is just really funny to me and he gets his ass absolutely kicked here. Essentially what happens is Bobby Bass comes to the ring and cheap shots him behind the refs back so Garvin opens up on him, punching him, slamming him in the stands, et. They end up doing a trading punches spot with both guys on their knees that ends with Assassin taking a headbutt to the face that both guys sell in a really awesome fashion. Garvin hits a nice lariat off the ropes and two elbow drops and his posturing during the subsequent nearfall was awesome. Assassin coming back directly after getting suplexed was annoying, but Garvin nearly getting back body dropped out of the fucking ring and then getting spiked with a sick looking DDT for the finish made up for this. No one will like this as much as me, but Assassin hanging upside down with his legs in the ropes getting beaten to shit by a guy who looks like WTBS jobber fodder deserves at least a little bit of praise. Interview with Bobby Bass, Spoiler (Karl Moffatt) & Nikita Kalimakoff shit talking Leo Burke. Ron Hutchinson v. Nikita Kalimakoff Hutchinson took an awkward bump off of a clothesline. Spoiler keeps interfering in the corner on Nikita's behalf. Kalimakoff catches Hutchinson on a crossbody attempt and slams him down but refuses to take the pinfall. This was basically a long drawn out squash. Sunny War Cloud v. Bob Crawford War Cloud works some speedy spots early but ends up getting caught in a double arm stretcher and the story becomes Crawford working over his back. I was fairly surprised at how well laid out this was as you had several teaser spots and hope spots and War Cloud was consistent in selling the back throughout. Crawford did not have a lot of interesting offense, but some of his shots looked pretty snug at least. War Cloud made his comeback and won. This is one of those that you file under the "as good as it could have been given the talent involved" file. The Spoiler v. Buddy Lane The early chain wrestling in this was elementary but looked good. Spoiler works some heel staples and Lane fires up with some stiff forearms to the chest and takes back over with a headlock. Spoiler losing another exchange and firing up by bashing his head into the turnbuckle was interesting. Spoiler begs off after taking a nice monkey flip but Kalimakoff distracts Lane who ends up getting his back worked over. Lane comes back and hits a couple of nice shoulder tackles, a back body drop and then a dropkick. Lane then misses a dropkick, but Spoiler misses his follow up leg drop. Spoiler ends up hitting a clothesline off a corner charge for the finish. I liked the finishing run a lot, and the meat of this was not bad, but this doesn't seem like a match that would set anyones World on fire. Interview with Bobby Bass, Spoiler & Nikita Kalimakoff Nikita Kalimakoff v. Leo Burke This starts off pretty hot but they badly botch a hip toss of all things. Pretty short with Spoiler running in and Cuban Assassin making the save. Cuban Assassin/Leo Burke interview Frenchy Martin v. Lou Garvin Total squash. Frenchy Martin interview Ron Hutchinson v. Bobby Bass Bass comes to the ring with an American flag which he uses as a weapon and then tosses Hutchinson to the floor. Bass is an awesome theatrical bumper and mega douchebag. Love his reaction to Hutchinson's comeback with the cross body. Bass ends up hitting a sick looking/semi botched inverted atomic drop and then a double boot eye rake. Hutchinson charges the corner and goes for a monkey flip but Bass pulls up on it and snake eyes him in the corner, then follows up with a running bulldog to take the first fall. Bass starts jawing with the fans and tells Hutchinson to bring it on. Hutchinson grabs his arm and Bass goes straight into a super exaggerated sell job. They do a spot where Bass slams him but Hutchinson holds onto the arm bar. Bass makes his come back and is stepping through the ropes screaming at the locals at this point. Bass goes into a bunch of staple heel spots which he does really well and with a really scummy charisma. Bass ends up missing a diving headbutt as the final bell rings and Hutchinson follows up with a nice rolling splash and elbow. This is by no means a great match and the timing of the most falls before curfew finish was somewhat flubbed but if we are ever going to do a Canada set Bobby Bass is the sort of unheralded guy that people ought to at least see and this is a very good Bobby Bass showcase performance.
