Ringo Mendoza/Cacharro Mendoza/Tony Salazar v. Jerry Estrada/Herodes/Mocha Cota

This had it's moments, I liked all of the rudos, but it had a fair number of awkward points, and sections of dull. Herodes takes big in ring bumps for such a giant dude.

Americo Rocca v. El Talisman

Very slick, fun lucha title match, mat wrestling nice armdrags. I haven't seen a ton of either guys, but they could roll. Talisman's second caidia submission was awesome. He also breaks out an awesome weird backbreaker and tope. Rocca was right there around Talisman's cool shit. Finish was really awesome with Rocca just wrenching his cool submission. Definite disc selection.

La Fiera/El Faraon/El Egipico v. Los Infernales

Jesus what a great match. Just insanely violent in the way great Infernales matches are. Satanico is a fucking whirlwind of violence in this, there are points where he feels like a crazed wife abuser in a Lifetime movie. Pirata is flying around taking sick ridiculous bumps, including getting thrown through the wood planks on the side of the ring. Fiera is great in this too, he does one of the more out of control dives I can remember seeing, it was out of the corner of your eye and it looked like he committed suicide. Awesome slam dunk top 10 contender.

Gran Cochisse/Solar II/El Impacto v. Franco Colombo/Espectro De Ultratumba/Lemus II

Perfectly reasonable lucha libre, not any excellent performances or anything, but everyone was fine. Solar 2 is Ghostbusters 2 to Solar 1 Ghostbusters. The finish with the unmasking is pretty cool.

Ringo Mendoza/Cacharro Mendoza/Tony Salazar v. Jerry Estrada/Herodes/Mocha Cota

Man, this match...it had me, and then it lost me. I disagree with Phil about the "sections of dull", but there were more than a few awkward points. A few less, and I could see this getting a nomination, but no such luck.

Americo Rocca v. El Talisman

Rocca has already proven his worth with the awesome Mocho Cota match, but very nice to see the always solid Talisman get a singles showcase. Lots of fun armdraggery, two nifty dives near the end, Rocca winning with the non-shitty version of Konnan's Tequilla Sunrise submission...yeah, I second the nomination.

La Fiera/El Faraon/El Egipico v. Los Infernales

Damn, that was violent. I've had the chance to see Pirata in a bunch of different settings thanks to this project, but at the end of the day, he's still a guy at his best working out-of-control lucha brawls, and this here was an out-of-control lucha brawl. He starts right out by punching El Egipcio in the face when he tries to get in the ring. Egipcio returns the favor, and their brawling is sort of the big hook throughout this match (unsurprising, as they were building to a hair match between the two). I've seen a handful of Egipcio matches now, but this is the first time he's actually stood out to me. And yeah, that's probably because he was booked so prominently in the match, but when you're throwing hands with Pirata and look like you're actually in his league, I'm inclined to think you're doing something right. They pave a nice little path of destruction through the post-apocalyptic wasteland that is any good Infernales brawl, including some great brawling around the ring where Pirata wins the award for most violent apron bumping now and forever, actually breaking the wooden barricades surrounding the ring. Satanico and the recently deceased MS-1 lend some very able support. Satanico in particular almost stole the match from Pirata and Egipcio. Phil said he looked like the abusive husband in a Lifetime made-for-TV movie, and I'm hard-pressed to disagree. Fiera and Faraon maybe perform below expectations insofar as they don't stand out the way they usually do, but you'll be too busy in awe of the Infernales' brutality to notice. Although you will notice at the end of the match when Fiera uncorks a "Hector Garza under-rotating on a shooting star press to the floor"-level horrifying botched dive. He comes off of the top rope with essentially a completely vertical upside-down bodypress to Satanico, except he lands just short of the target and Martinetes himself on the floor. Ouch. Surprisingly, for a brawl this intense, there actually wasn't any blood, but I don't suspect you'll find too many bloodless brawls better than this one. Slam dunk nomination.

I did not like this.

Cachorro Mendoza/Ringo Mendoza/Tony Salazar vs. Jerry Estrada/Herodes/Mocho Cota (3/29/85)

Man I don't know about this one as it had guys I really liked with some fun moments but man this match had some issues in different areas. It made me want to see a Ringo/Estrada singles match though but that didn't help this as a match. No nomination.

Mexican National Welterweight Title: Talisman © vs. Americo Rocca (3/29/85)

Again another great lucha title match with everything you wanted from the style and with Rocca delivering another great performance again. Talisman was really damn solid as well and hung with Rocca in everything he did. I loved the dives in the 3rd fall as these guys were going all out to win and knew that matwork alone wasn't going to get the job done. This was just a strongly worked match with two solid performers and this is an easy nomination.

Los Infernales (MS-1/Pirata Morgan/Satanico) vs. El Egipcio/El Faraon/La Fiera (3/29/85)

The focus was on Pirata & Egipcio here since they were building to a hair match and they were awesome in doing that but the others didn't give a shit and decided they were going to beat on each other just as hard especially Satanico who worked this match with intense anger and took it out on the tecnicos. Fiera decided to go another way as his goal was to bump like a motherfucker then trying to kill himself on dives making you lose your shit about how reckless he was. Faraon who was so great on the mat had no chance to use that here as he was just there to get his ass kicked while getting in what little offense he could. Fantastic all-action out of control lucha brawl with zero blood which was kinda odd but was fine here as it didn't need it really. Slam dunk nomination.
