Posted December 30, 201014 yr comment_5461203 This had the feel of a true heavyweight, clash of the titans match and was worked that way. Both guys appeared to be firing on all cylinders and were throwing desperation bombs . Really loved Hogan in this as he was straddling the fence nicely between vulnerable babyface and monster babyface. Also his big offense looked really good, especially his elbow drop and powerslam which got a really great nearfall. Hogan missing the leg drop was a great spot and Bock responding by throwing these last ditch effort blows that looked like they were being tossed out to balance himself as much as they were to inflict damage was really great. Cool sequence as Bock chops down Hogan but then goes for a slam and just collapses with Hogan getting a great nearfall. Hogan has Bock really and hits another strong elbow drop for a really slow counted nearfall with Hogan given an awesome "fuck you" look to the ref as he circles out of the way. Hogan charges the corner but Bock moves and Bock locks on admittedly sloppy sleeper. Normally the sloppiness of this sleeper would piss me off but here it works as it comes across as the desperate attempt of a defeated man to put away an unbeatable giant. Bock gets slung over the top onto the ref to break it but goes back to it again, this time the ref gets squashed in the corner. Bock goes for another attempt but Hogan leans forward sending him over the top to the floor. Hogan brings him in and hits a suplex and then the leg drop for what should have been the most important title change in AWA history. Instead they do the screwjob Dusty finish with Blackburn reversing the decision because Hogan had thrown Bock over the top. This is a famous and very good match and should make the set for both reasons. Pretty sure this is about as complete a version as there is.
March 30, 201114 yr comment_5468602 Hulk Hogan v. Nick Bockwinkel - Another match where the clipping bothered me and I felt like we got a highlight reel. I want to see if KHawk knows which version is the best one to include on the set. Maybe, just maybe, when Dan transfers all of that footage, a better version will pop up.
March 30, 201114 yr comment_5468626 This I believe exists complete on the AWA Super Sunday card that aired on ESPN Classics Canada, and I think I have it complete in a bit lesser quality on another tape or dvd. the ESPN Classics Canada airing will be the best VQ.
January 16, 201213 yr comment_5492394 AWA World Heavyweight Title: Nick Bockwinkel © vs. "Incredible" Hulk Hogan (4/24/83) This is one of the definitive matches of the AWA in this era and maybe their most important match of the decade business wise. This was Hogan's Moby Dick but in a idiotic move Verne would kill the whale before it could achieve it's goal. The work here was very good as Hogan was on top of his game at this time and Bock was awesome. There was a great story told here with the fans heavily invested and even with the whole after match ending. Hogan won cleanly and the fact they would DQ him later for throwing Bock over the top rope, Blears never saw it. The fans went completely apeshit and it was such garbage that Verne wouldn't give him the title and the fans went nuts when Mean Gene announced to them it was a DQ finish thanks to Stanley Blackburn. This is a slam dunk nomination for the whole spectacle along with the match.

Nick Bockwinkel This is the FULL version of the infamous screwjob finish with Hogan not winning on the Dusty finish. This is the one that should make the set. Can someone confirm that the Bock Vol. 3 match is more complete than the rarities match?
