King Tonga vs. Jose Miguel Perez (January 1983) Decent TV match with Tonga looking good. John Bonello vs. Keith Larsen (January 1983) Okay babyface match. Scorpio & Mr. Tempest vs. Victor Jovica & Masked Jobber (January 1983) I didn't catch the masked guy's name but he did the job. El Gran Apollo vs. Tony Colon (January 1983) Spotlight match for Apollo. The Invader vs. Iranian Assassin (January 1983) Cuban Assassin would run in for the DQ after Invader was pounding on the Iranian Assassin. More rudos would attack Invader setting him up for King Tonga to pound him until Carlos Colon among others would make the save. King Tonga vs. John Bonello (January 1983) Tonga wins fairly easily. Abdullah the Butcher vs. Keith Larsen (January 1983) Carlos Colon comes out before the match wanting to fight Abby putting his Universal title on the line so of course Abby & Hugo Savinovich leave the ring and don't come back. El Gran Apollo vs. Cesar Pabon (January 1983) Squash. Crazy Luke Graham vs. Gino Dellaserra (February 1983) Pretty much a squash. Enrique Vera vs. Dick Steinborn (February 1983) Okay little match. El Gran Apollo vs. Cuban Assassin (February 1983) Competitive match. "Nature Boy" Buddy Landell vs. John Bonello (February 1983) Landell makes his TV debut here along with his new blonde hair and he looks good here. Crazy Luke Graham vs. Random Guy (February 1983) Squash. Next we get a great Roddy Piper promo talking about coming for the Invader and breaking out a Miss Piggy doll. Extra material. Enrique Vera vs. Iranian Assassin (February 1983) Okay match. Scorpio vs. Keith Larsen (February 1983) Another decent match with Mr. Tempest helping Scorp win. "Nature Boy" Buddy Landell vs. Victor Jovica (February 1983) Landell jumps Jovica at the bell and this had some aggression but Landell was too much for Jovica.
June 30, 201312 yr comment_5549446 The King Tonga match vs. Carlos and the attack clips might be interesting. The Piper promo would make a good extra. I'm not sure about Carlos confronting Abdullah for an extra, it might be too much in Spanish.
June 30, 201312 yr comment_5549447 I'm a bit confused. Was the title referred to as the Universal title? I've seen Jan. 6, 1983 and Dec. 18, 1983 as the "creation" date of the Universal title, with Dec. 8 being the more common one. Ok, I found the video: Carlos jumps in the ring and is challenging Abdullah, saying that if he wants to fight anyone it will be him. Apparently Abdullah had attacked Invader's brother and Carlos was out to stop Abdullah from doing the same thing to Keith Larson. Hugo and Abdullah blow Carlos off and leave. Carlos says that if Abdullah comes out to fight, it will have to be with him. He's not leaving until Abdullah shows his face. He's willing to put the belt on the line. They only refer to it as the belt during the segment, so I have no clue if it's already the Universal title (although the title belt looks like the original World title before it became the Universal title). Carlos continues arguing with the ref that he wants to wrestle Abdullah right now. At around 3:15, some people in the crowd start chanting/singing "Abdullah tiene miedo, miedo, miedo" (Abdullah is afraid, afraid, afraid). Eventually Rickin Sanchez (the show host/producer) comes out and convinces Carlos to leave.
