King Tonga vs. Terry Gibbs (May 1983) This doesn't last long before Tsurumi & Apollo runs out where Tonga gets bloodied and destroys Goro. This ends in a big pull-apart.

 

El Gran Apollo vs. Mr. Tempest (May 1983) Apollo gets a good win.

 

Next we get a promo by the incoming Frank Dusek en Espanol which is great.

 

Then we get another Kendo Nagasaki squash from Mid-South.

 

Then we get clips of Colon/Tonga vs. Ox/Goro from a house show.

 

El Gran Apollo vs. Goro Tsurumi (May 1983) A bandaged up Tonga then comes out in the middle of the match for a karate standoff.

 

Terry Gibbs & "Nature Boy" Buddy Landell vs. Jose Miguel Perez & Chicky Starr (May 1983) Gibbs & Landell were working well as a team here and win fairly easily.

 

Ox Baker vs. Johnny Rivera (May 1983) Rivera puts up a good fight but gets beat.

 

Next is another Kendo Nagasaki squash from Mid-South TV.

 

Terry Gibbs & "Nature Boy" Buddy Landell vs. El Gran Apollo & King Tonga (June 1983) Nice that Tonga still wears a bandage a week later. Fun little match before Hugo gets brought in the ring where they strip him down.

 

Goro Tsurumi vs. El Aguila (June 1983) Squash.

 

Chicky Starr vs. Mr. X (June 1983) Spotlight match for Chicky.

 

Then we get a taped promo by Harley Race saying that he is coming for Colon.

 

Next we get a JJ Dillon/Reggie Parks match from Amarillo. A rare match from this territory.

 

Then another Kendo Nagasaki squash from Mid-South.

 

Next is another Harley Race taped promo.

 

Ox Baker vs. Ron Sexton (June 1983) Squash.

 

Kendo Nagasaki makes his TV debut and does his demonstration in the ring.

 

"El Monarca" Javier Cruz & Mil Mascaras vs. Crazy Luke Graham & Mr. X (June 1983) This starts in black & white but it would get some color after the match starts. Mascaras & Monarca look pretty good here.

I don't see anything notable, unless one wants to represent some of the Tonga/Apolo and Gibbs/Landell confrontation.

King Tonga vs. Terry Gibbs The match itself wasn't much but the brawl with Tonga and Goro was fucking awesome. Double juice and Tonga is going nuts with strikes. Then the whole locker room - which is much larger than you would think - empties and it is total chaos.

 

El Gran Apollo vs. Mr. Tempest Nothing match.

 

The Dusek promo is pretty funny

 

Colon/Tonga v. Ox/Goro clip doesn't really seem deserving of an extra to me.

 

El Gran Apollo vs. Goro Tsurumi This was going along fine as a match and then Tonga runs in and the karate stand off was fucking classic cornball 80's at it's best. I fucking loved this as they barely made any contact and just danced around the ring posing in the most ridiculously awesome fashion.

 

Terry Gibbs & "Nature Boy" Buddy Landell vs. Jose Miguel Perez & Chicky Starr This was decent, but at this point it's annoying to know that we won't get to see Gibbs/Landell have a lengthy tag match against real opposition.

 

Ox Baker vs. Johnny Rivera This is notable for Rivera taking Ox to the mat and successful working a hammerlock escape which I would have thought an impossible fiction had I not seen it myself. Actually the story of this with Rivera confounding Ox with semi-flashy stuff was kind of effective even if you knew this was just going to end with another boring Baker ass kicking.

 

Terry Gibbs & "Nature Boy" Buddy Landell vs. El Gran Apollo & King Tonga Man Buddy selling the fuck out of the wastelock and then having Apollo turn around on an arm drag back to back were two pretty low key, but awesome spots. Tonga comes in and lays an asskicking on Buddy including an awesome stump puller variation that I marked out for. Hugo ends up in the ring and gets bumped and then stripped down to his underwear ala Jimmy Hart. Fun stuff.

 

The Harley promo's are pretty much classic Harley and might be worth an extra.

 

Nagasaki's ring demo is what it is.

 

"El Monarca" Javier Cruz & Mil Mascaras vs. Crazy Luke Graham & Mr. X This is about as random as it gets. Video quality sucked, which is too bad because I wanted to be attentive to the absurdity of this and really couldn't be. Oh well.
