Dave Sullivan vs. Disco Inferno

Meng vs. Julio Sanchez

Ric Flair/Arn Anderson/Brian Pillman/Chris Benoit vs. Frankie Lancaster/Joey Maggs/Men at Work*

Steven Regal/Bobby Eaton vs. Eddie Jackie/Verne Henderson

Big Bubba Rogers vs. Jim Duggan*

Now that's a way to kick off the new year of Pro! Match was Disco stalling, and then getting rolled up. I actually thought Disco was really funny during almost all of his WCW run, but this wasn't anything.

Meng/Sanchez is shockingly a Meng squash. Meng's eye-rolling "bitch please" faces might be the best in wrestling. He's wearing the awesome tights with the clawed hand/bloody claw tracks, and it's so damn fun watching him not bump against jobbers. Dropkicks no sold, elbows no sold, just awesome presence.

8 man was awesome because those matches just don't exist anymore. You don't get superstars working jobbers competitively on random weekend shows anymore. I've seen about 12 Ziggler/Kingston matches this year, or Cena/Orton, and it'd be awesome to see matches like this pulled out of their asses. Flair gets zero offense and bumps huge for Maggs and Lancaster. Arn tags in and bumps huge for Mark Starr, Pillman works even with Maggs, too weird. The wrestling isn't great, but as spectacle it can't be matched. All 8 men brawl in the ring and to the floor, and Pillman dropkicks star into a Benoit dragon suplex for pretty much the only Horsemen offense of a 6 minute match.

Main was fun with Eaton and Regal cutting off the ring, Eaton hitting the knee off the top (even though they filmed it from the most exposing angle) and Regal taunting and berating Jackie while stretching him in the Regal Stretch. Too short.

Duggan/Bubba may be the longest post '91 Duggan match I have ever seen, going over 9 minutes, but is actually a real good time. Both guys slug it out, Bubba works the body, Duggan makes great tard faces while bubba works cravates, we got some shitty punches, some awesome punches, crowd is loving it the whole time. Really felt like a ppv main event style match, except in front of a studio crowd. They brawl to the back for the obvious DDQ, and Bossman makes all these "birds flying 'round my head" faces while getting socked.

Joey Maggs vs. Lex Luger

Ice Train vs. The Gambler

Kurasawa vs. Randy Savage

Konnan vs. Kanyon

Meng vs. Hulk Hogan*

An entertaining episode, but without any real "good" matches. Meng/Hogan I can see going on as a curiosity, as a match that people would likely have on-paper interest in.

Which leads me to a very important question: Should I be nominating *just* good matches, or matches that on-paper would entice potential buyers? Meng/Hogan wasn't good, but it played out exactly how you'd think Meng/Hogan would play out, and a lot of people would probably want to see it.

The set would take a very different tone depending on if it's "good matches" or "matches that perfectly represent 90s syndicated wrestling".

State Patrol vs. Harlem Heat

Giant vs. Southern Posse

Mark Starr vs. Ric Flair

Lifeguard Steve Collins vs. Bunkhouse Buck*

Hugh Morrus vs. Scott Armstrong

Robert Eaton/Dave Taylor vs. American Males*

Man were HH sloppy throughout the 90s. They have not aged well. How much of the State Patrol's AJPW tour exists on tape, and who wants to make me that comp?

I liked Starr/Flair as a standard Flair 20/80 match, but instead of some small town in the early 80s it's in front of 250 vacationing people in Florida.

Bunk/Collins was an epic Bunk squash, with Fuller and Buck cheating like motherfuckers and Collins having a bad mustache/mullet and getting stiffed by Buck.

I can't imagine there being a bad Eaton/Taylor match. Those guys are just the best.
