Posted January 24, 201114 yr comment_5462819 The opening stuff with Curt on offense wasn't much, but when he went FIP he was awesome. Just great setting up mini-comebacks, bumping around and selling his ass off. They built great tension off a front face lock of all things, and Stevens punches to the throat were sick. Great punch exchange with Bock and Larry was a lot of fun off the hot tag. Double knockdown spot ends with Larry getting isolated on the heel side of the ring. Larry was a surprisingly good FIP and they do a great hot tag spot with Larry carrying Bock to his corner to get the hot tag. Curt comes in and is laying in stiff shots with the heels just bumping around wildly. Cool blindside/double team Axe from Larry, who follows up with an elbow drop for a nearfall. Curt hits a dropkick and Larry knocks Stevens off the apron driving both guys to the floor. The "wrong man" is Stevens who sneaks into the ring and steals the fall with a small package. Really good tv tag match. Stevens was clearly past his prime but I was impressed with the way he worked his limited role especially. Post-match brawl was great.
February 20, 201213 yr comment_5495390 Nick Bockwinkel & Ray "The Crippler" Stevens vs. Larry "The Axe" & Curt Hennig (4/24/85) Ray gets dominated to start but the match doesn't really pick up until Curt works FIP where he was damn good at working off of the heels who do a good job of working him over. Larry would get the hot tag and the heels were great selling his power offense before they would catch him in their corner and then they would work him over like his son. Larry did a good job as well playing FIP before carrying Bock to his corner so he could tag in Curt who is a house of fire taking it to the heels. This would soon turn into a 4-way brawl where Stevens would end up getting the pin on Curt tricking the referee since Bock was the legal man. This was a fun little match and this moves forward.
