Bock offers his hand for a handshake, but Curt isn't having it and gives him the "fuck you" hand gesture instead. A couple of clean breaks and Bock punches Curt right in the face off of another break and starts throwing some blows to the mid-section. Man Hennig was great at selling a punch and Bock was good at working them as serious blows. Curt bumps through the ropes off a punch and Bock turns around to show off to the crowd. Curt comes back in and Bock just punts him in the guts and tosses him back to the floor while circling around in the ring. Bock reaches through the ropes and punches Hennig who takes a wild bump on his ass. I am not always a fan of the AWA staple "babyface gets knocked to the floor and heel keeps him at bay" stretches, but this one is good because Bock is such an asshole and Hennig sells and bumps so well for every single blow. Hennig comes back with a clothesline using the top rope and Bock falls under the ropes allowing Curt to hit some blows to his face. I liked this control segment from Curt as he sort of turned the tables with his own heelish tactics on Bock. Bock ends up making a mini-comeback and charges the corner but he takes the shoulder bump into the post and Curt goes straight to work on the arm. This is not incredibly great arm work, but it is solid enough. I liked how they worked the arm stretcher and I thought the slingshotting of Bock's arm was a pretty fun spot. Hennig ends up going for a high spot and pays for it by eating Bock's knees. Cool little spot as Bock throws a body shot on the ribs he had been working earlier and then hits a couple of body slams for nearfalls. They end up going into a strange "parity" segment where they both connect with punches and then do a double knockdown spot off of a rope running spot, but Bock is back up first and locks on a pretty sick looking ab stretch. Curt breaks the hold with a hip toss and ends up catching Bock in his own ab stretch. Bock breaks it up with an eye rake and throw some really sick looking uppercuts in the corner. Curt hits an atomic drop out of nowhere for a nearfall. Hennig ends up going to a front facelock which felt like a move done totally out of frustration and Bock backs him into the corner and dumps him back out to the floor. This is another "babyface at bay" segment with Bock arguing with the ref in between taking cheapshots at Hennig who is isolated on the floor. Hennig makes his comeback and face plants Bock into the turnbuckle for a ten count. They fight some more around the ropes and Bock pulls Curt over the ropes and into the ring for a bullshit fall with Curt's foot on the bottom rope. Poorly executed finish of a really good match. This probably had my favorite opening of any of their matches, but in some ways it may have been the weakest match all around.

Nick Bockwinkel vs. Curt Hennig (11/22/84)

This is one of their earliest singles matches and I loved the beginning with Bock offering his hand with Curt answering with the fuck you gesture. Bock dominates early throwing some really good punches with Curt selling them nicely and Bock is just as good showing off his aggression acting like a dick in general. Curt would finally make a comeback and he got his turn to show off his aggression as he took it to Bock like Bock gave it to him with some nice punches and kicks. Bock tries to make a comeback but he misses a running shoulder smash into the corner allowing Curt to work over his left arm which he does fiercely. Both men eventually go to a back-and-forth offensive barrage as they worked on each other both in and out of the ring leading to a controversial finish as Bock pinned Curt after pulling him back in the ring and had his foot on the bottom rope. These two had some great matches and this may not have been great but it was pretty damn solid and moves forward easily.

Fuck there are two different matches reviewed here. My first review and Kris second review is the 84 match.

Pretty sure the other match Kris reviewed may be the phantom match in the other forum we have had trouble identifying

Edit: Yep. What happened here was that the wrong threads were merged. My review and Kris second review are from the 84 match.

Kris first review matches up with my first review from the "Solid Nomination" Bock v. Hennig match still in the general match discussion folder
