Posted January 25, 201114 yr comment_5463037 Hector wildly rolling at Orndorff as he tries to take his robe off is fucking hilariously awesome. Fun stuff with Hector getting taken down by escaping a ride, et. Hector does his flip over the back body drop attempt and hits a nice roll up for a nearfall with Orndorff going absolutely insane claiming his trunks were pulled and flopping around like a fool when he kicks out. Orndorff comes back with some punches in the corner. Hector tries to hit a sunset flip but Paul punches him in the face. Hector tries to break up a front facelock by stomping on Paul's toes which is awesome. Hector is pitched to the floor but lands on his feet. He is staring out into the crowd looking pissed so Paul stomps on his fingers which is equally awesome. Orndorff hits a pretty nice dropkick of all things and goes for a second but Hector holds onto the ropes and Paul face plants. Hector's offensive run was not as flashy until he hit a crossbody with Paul rolling through for the pin with a handful of trunks. Post-match Orndorff piledrives Hector, Ben Jordan, Reno Riggins, and Joey Maggs. Even without the post-match stuff this feels like the most "complete" tv match so far as it had a good set up, some neat work, and I really think Orndorff might have been at his best in SMW.
June 29, 201114 yr comment_5475440 I thought this was fun. We get a cool pre match angle. We get some fun work from both guys. I too loved hand stomping on the apron. I was wondering if Hector was expecting it. Plus Hector's facials when he took Paul's punches were great. Orndorff showed great intensity throughout. Plus we get a great post match angle. Still this feels more like an extra than a nomination.
November 24, 201113 yr comment_5488933 SMW Heavyweight Title Tournament Wildcard Elimination Match: "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff vs. Hector Guerrero (4/9/92) Orndorff goes full-blown heel before the match in a promo with Hector & Dixie Dynomite then baits Hector before the match with a border remark so Hector just rolls around as Orndorff tries to take his robe off which confuses him. Dutch announces on commentary that this is the first show for referee Mark Curtis which is cool. Hector has Orndorff discombobulated early on and he whines to Curtis before using some good punches to start his offensive barrage. Orndorff would miss a dropkick giving Hector the chance he needed to take control but his offense isn't inspiring until he hits a big cross body block off the top rope that Orndorff would cutback into a cradle with the tights to win. Orndorff then goes nuts afterwards and piledrives babyfaces galore. Fun for what it was especially the angle before and after the match but this is more of an extra than a nomination.
