Posted June 2, 200520 yr comment_2365609 For the longest time, my favorite Clint movie was The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. However, after finally seeing A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More and The Outlaw Josey Wales... I am at a loss. I like them all. This isn't even menioning the other Westerns he was a part of, the orungutan movies or the Dirty Harry movies. So, what is your favorite Clint Eastwood movie?
June 8, 200520 yr comment_2444099 Of the trilogy, I've only seen Good, Bad & the Ugly; I've yet to see the other two installments since I refuse to buy the crappy DVD releases available now, since SE are supposedly in the works. My girl just bought A Fistful of Dollars for her dad for father's day, so it's safe to say I'll see that one soon enough. Hang 'Em High is an often overlooked Eastwood western, but it's a solid flick. I really need to go raid the various Wal-Mart $5.50 sections, since they've got virtually all of the titles from the Clint Eastwood Collection.
June 8, 200520 yr comment_2444530 Heartbreak Ridge is my favorite. Pale Rider comes in at second, just edging out Escape from Alcatraz.
June 8, 200520 yr comment_2445041 I was wondering about Pale Rider. That was another title my girl picked up for her dad since it was in the $5.50 section. I'm tempted to just go buy all of them the next time I've got some spare cash on hand.
June 8, 200520 yr comment_2445984 I just wanted to say that this is a good idea for a post and we should do it with other actors and actresses as well.
June 8, 200520 yr Author comment_2446223 I'm just happ[y someone decided to post in the topic... 6 days after Icreated it
June 8, 200520 yr comment_2446944 I was gonna post the same day you started it, but I didn't have my stuff together. I still don't, but figured I'd add what I could.
June 8, 200520 yr comment_2446986 Kinda off-topic, I'd like to add that Bruiser's comment is something I sorely miss. He didn't want to add a post until he knew he had his "shit together" and could contribute thoughts worth throwing down. I know the feeling. I'll see a thread I want to post in but often skip it in the hopes that I'll come back later and say what I really want to say in the fashion that I want to say it. I wouldn't say I do research (sometimes I fact-check, sure) but I do have to get my thoughts together to COMPOSE a post rather than just slapping together a few random sentences. Bruiser: I like your style.
June 8, 200520 yr Author comment_2447113 Well, I created the topic for completely selfish reasons. I simply am not as up-to-date or familiar with movies the way you guys are. I know almost every movie CJ has recommended has been gold. I know what movies I like from Eastwood but maybe other people could mention movies I overlooked (like Escape from Alcatraz) and I can add to the collection.
June 8, 200520 yr comment_2447170 My favorite would be The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly, followed by For A Few Dollars More, Dirty Harry, and Space Cowboys. I've only seen one Clint movie I can't stand and that's High Plains Drifter. Then again, I was watching it on TNT, so they could have cut out the good parts.
June 14, 200520 yr comment_2511191 It's rare I do research, either, but I like to check around here and there just add a little more to particular threads when possible. All too often I've made a half-assed response to a thread I want to devote more substance to with the intentions of returning later on to expand on, only to never get around to doing it. I'd rather not respond and risk letting the thread die than adding something that won't add much at all.
June 14, 200520 yr comment_2512250 UNFORGIVEN I think I could recite the entire climax scene from memory, I've seen it so many times.
June 14, 200520 yr comment_2512325 Unforgiven's a tad too polished for my taste, but it makes a good effort in painting a picture of the West when it was past the days of the Old West. Hackman's great as the corrupt sheriff and English Bob is a fun character in a small role.
