June 8, 201114 yr Author comment_5472737 Chaotic main event on a great show. Jake Roberts and DDP doubleteaming Espectrito is amusing. So is Jake throwing a drink in Antonio Pena's face. Beyond that, I don't really get Konnan and this is overbooked like crazy.
January 11, 201411 yr comment_5579606 Jake spends most of the match hanging outside the ring while Konnan and Caras fought. Good mind games by Roberts. Not much of a match with brawling with loads of people happening after. Rough press slam by Roberts on Espectrito on the floor. DDP was puffing on his cigar while brawling.
January 21, 201411 yr comment_5581241 Hard to even describe all this. Konnan apparently eliminates Caras in a few minutes thanks to a timely assist from Jake, and then all hell breaks loose. Los Gringos Locos are apparently aligned with Jake, and they go after Caras and double-team him outside. Konnan saves, and he and Caras have a bit of a MegaPowers moment. Konnan escorts Caras to the back, which allows Roberts to press slam Mascarita Sagrada on the floor (!). Loved DDP digging his boot into Sagrada's throat afterward--what a fucking scumbag heel move. Antonio Pena comes out to browbeat Jake and gets a drink thrown in his face. Perro Aguayo tries to make the save but gets laid out, then Konnan makes the real save. We get a surprisingly decent brawl for a bit once the match proper resumes, but it's a hugely anticlimactic finish as Jake hits Konnan low and gets DQ'd. For all the crazy shit that had gone down and for as creative as AAA has been with regard to finishes, they could have done better than that. Jake unleashes the cobra afterward, which sadly doesn't really go anywhere. This was enjoyable, sometimes in spite of itself, but really petered out badly at the end.
September 28, 20159 yr comment_5701219 Jake slaps a woman to start things off. Lovely. DDP is at ringside. Good Gawd. This was honestly awful to me. I do like the character work of Jake of course but nothing here really connected and there was just a few snippets of something great like him slamming Sagrada. Overall, i guess I am lower on this show than everyone else that has went through these discs but this was really bad in my eyes. *1/2
December 29, 20168 yr comment_5780646 I've literally dreamed more coherent matches than this. The two actual falls couldn't have taken more than two minutes combined; the rest of this was something I couldn't explain if you gave me from now until summertime. I hope Sagrada and Perro got extra pay, because they took more of a beating than any of the wrestlers involved in this so-called "match". So did the girl Jake threw down at the start, for that matter. Based on the angles we saw between Jake and Konnan, I thought this would actually be something memorable. I guess one or both of them simply didn't feel like working on this night. What a shame. At least I found out how Jake and DDP first knew each other, so the experience wasn't a total loss.
November 8, 20213 yr comment_5967584 Another AAA main event where the story and the chaos is the focus and not who is winning the falls. Let's try to make sense of things. First things first, watch the handheld version of this to see the entrances. Powerful stuff. The seconds are just as important to the match than one of the wrestlers (Cien Caras) is, with Diamond Dallas Page and Los Gringos Loco, who accompanied Jake Roberts, attacking Cien Caras after he'd been eliminated by Konnan (via an assist from Roberts). This led to a handshake between Cien Caras and Konnan later in the match. Roberts was being a huge dick at ringside, spitting on people, throwing drinks into people's faces, attacking Mascarita Sagrada, slamming him onto the floor. Then when it's finally him vd Konnan alone, he has no interest in wrestling and quickly gets the DQ. Everyone gets involved. It's very chaotic and slightly incoherent but it's quite a sight ultimately. ***1/2 for everything
