Rick Martel v. Boris Zhukov

Mad Dog Vachon is Martel's second here and is out with the Canadian flag to combat Markoff the Russian in Boris' corner. Like there other match Zukhov works over Martel's arm with Martel selling well and Zhukov's arm headbutts being a major point of the attack. Martel has a flurry but ends up getting taken down with a hooking clothesline for a nearfall. Martel puts together another flurry but gets caught with a kick coming off the ropes as a second camera shows Mad Dog and Markoff nearly coming to blows on the floor. Zhukov hits a nice diving knee for a nearfall and a belly to back suplex. Markoff ends up throwing powder in Martel's eyes and Mad Dog chases him into the ring which results in a DQ. The work here was decent, but the non-finish here makes this easily the worst of their three big matches in Winnipeg.

The Longriders v. Tom Zenk/Curt Hennig

We have this on a previous Winnipeg disc.

Nick Bockwinkel v. Blackjack Mulligan

We have this on Bockwinkle 2

Wahoo McDaniel v. Nick Bockwinkel

JIP at about seven minutes with Wahoo standing on Bock's throat. Bock eats a chop coming off the rope and runs to the floor where he embraces Heenan. Bock is reeling from the chops and takes a nice butterfly suplex before getting bumped face first into the ropes off of an atomic drop for a nearfall. Bock ends up taking over by tossing Wahoo to the floor. Bock tries to keep Wahoo at bay on the floor by punching him in the face but it pisses Wahoo off and he comes back in with some stiff chops. Bock takes some big offense but floats over and locks on the sleeper. Wahoo is able to break free by back into a corner and rolling forward a few times. Wahoo ends up catapulting Heenan in and as the Brain bumps the match gets thrown out. Stupid ending and only about half of this shown though it was good while it lasted.

Nick Bockwinkel v. Jim Brunzell

We have this nominated already.

Nick Bockwinkel v. Dino Bravo

We have this already.

Boris Zhukov/Chris Markoff v. Nick Bockwinkel/Mad Dog Vachon

This is just insane with the heels beating the shit out of the faces and a ref, Markoff getting powder thrown into his eyes, a new ref coming down, Markoff getting caught in the figure-four and the match ending. I think I may have watched this recently actually. Anyway this is fun but not a nomination as it is really short.

The High Flyers v. Ken Patera/Bobby Duncum

JIP at about 4 minutes. Patera is being worked over by the heels in the opening of this. Duncum tags in and hits the steel on a corner charge. They come up for a cross body nearfall but the Flyers stay in control with arm work. Duncum finally comes back hitting an elbow smash off the ropes and tagging in Patera. Greg's FIP is fine but the heels working a bearhug as a base was not inspiring. The sleeperhold hope spot was really awesome though. Brunzell's hot tag gave offered up a nice dropkick and then a figure-four with Patera running in and dropping an elbow to break it up before tagging in and locking in a full nelson. Patera ends up with his back to Gagne who breaks the hold with a punch to his ear but the heels maintain control and score a nearfall with a suplex. Brunzell's FIP was a lot more interesting than Gagne's and i was set to give this a nomination when we got a stupid finish of Brunzell being powerslammed into special ref Larry Hennig who pushes Brunzell on top for the finish. Still a good match but not good enough to overcome the finish.

Battle Royal

Andre wins.

AWA World Heavyweight Title: Rick Martel © vs. Boris Zuhkov (9/19/85)

Vachon is with Martel waving the Canadian flag to counter Chris Markoff and the Russian flag. Again in these matches Martel was good and held his own but Boris was bad here and the DQ finish sucked as well.

Nick Bockwinkel vs. Blackjack Mulligan (4/19/84)

This is JIP and this is the Bock Show as he totally makes Mulligan look like a world beater here and was working for two. Bock was selling his ass off for the plodding Mulligan before finally getting the advantage by locking on his sleeper which Mulligan fought to get out of pretty well. This led to a fun punching exchange with Bock bumping hard for Mulligan until Heenan would jump up on the apron to punch Mulligan for the DQ. Bad finish but this was fun for what it was and I'll slightly push this as a low-end pick.

Then we get clips of a fun Bock/Wahoo match.

"Jumpin" Jim Brunzell vs. Nick Bockwinkel (6/11/81)

This is JIP but no by much and we got Lord James Blears as the ref here. I liked the back and forth early on with both men jockeying for the advantage but the other one was too pesky to give it up. Bock would step it up though with some nice punches and aggressive tactics forcing Brunzell to answer with his own aggression. Bock would work over Brunzell's left leg fierce so Brunzell would counter by posting Bock's leg after being thrown to the floor and then just nailed him with two awesome dropkicks. The crowd is nuts for Brunzell taking it to Bock before Stevens jumped on the apron although Bock would hit him by mistake. Brunzell would fire two more dropkicks with the last one being awesome to win. This was fun stuff and moves forward.

Then we get more stuff I've seen and a Flyers/Black & Blue Express match which was fun but wasn't enough for a nomination with a bad finish hurting it.
