Heh, this was one of those "that's cause it's real" moments as Kanemura legit got majorly fucked up from the fire spot. Aside from a 1 time match on the last W*ING show he didn't wrestle again for like half a year or so after this.

The setting was cool with using the torches around the ring as the only light. Whole think looked really dangerous from guys hitting each other with torches to the ring mat that looked slick as hell where someone could have wiped out. Crazy finish with the power bomb on fire. I though they grabbed some random fans jacket to try put the fire out on Kanemura's back.

This kind of thing probably had more appeal in a pre-Internet age (more or less), when it took desire, time, and effort to try to track down these bootleg-esque videos from shady dealers--atrocities like the Faces of Death series, the R. Budd Dwyer suicide, or the Star Wars Holiday Special. At some point Jado and Nakamaki turn on their partners and this turns into either a match involving separate teams or a four-way. Fucking psychotic finish as Kanemura is power bombed into fire and the match is immediately called. Can't say there wasn't truth in advertising here. Other highlights, if you want to call them that, involved somebody swinging a torch like a baseball bat and Kanemura lighting his elbow pad on fire and clotheslining Gedo with it.

I had no idea what or who I was watching from start to finish. All I know is that a match which involves people being whipped by flaming torches isn't my idea of a wrestling match. This is one I'll be glad never to see again.

There is spectacle wrestling and then there is this. If you are going to do a wacky gimmick match like this, I do say go all in and they certainly did that here to the detriment of the third degree burns they received. The pitch dark arena besides the torches added a lot of atmosphere to this one. Kanemura is nuts taking that powerbomb onto the fire and the amount of water that was dumped on him in the aftermath was frightening to watch. ***
