February 9, 200619 yr comment_4476628 I just got a video iPod (30 GB). It took a couple of hours to copy over all of my songs...which was a little less than seven gigs. Um, I have twenty-three free gigs of space...and I'm not real high on watching movies and shit on a four inch screen. How the hell am I supposed to even come close to filling all of that space? My harddrive in my PC is only forty gigs! The iPod was a gift, however I would've been more than content with like a six gig song only iPod. Guess I can't look a gift horse in the mouth. Anyway, I've been listening to a lot of Tom Waits. I "obtained" his discography and I really like it. He has like two different sounds to me. He has the lounge singer "I'm so drunk" kinda slurred speech songs then he has the creepy songs with weird sound effects and shit you'd hear in horror movie songs. It's a weird mix but I can dig it. Very hard to sleep to his songs though when some graveyard zombie murder shit comes on. Current song: Tom Waits ~ "Alice" I can dig. If you take a decent amount of road-trips, consider putting certain TV shows on your iPod. In my case, I have a PSP with a 4 gig HD instead of an iPod. I've got a lot of emulated games on it right now (LucasArts games, Genesis, NES) but I plan on changing up the contents before a road-trip at the end of the month. (I also have keychain-sized MP3 player with a shitload of RAM, so that's why music doesn't go on the PSP.) I'm thinking of putting the PSP version of MAME, a ton of old arcade game ROMs, and possibly a bunch of South Park episodes on it. Another possibility is to set up the Gameboy emulator on there so I can play the pre-GBA Gameboy games I like, such as the Final Fantasy Legend series, Heroes Of Might And Magic, and so forth.

February 15, 200619 yr comment_4512889 I'm listening to Walk by Pantera. I have the urge to throw a chair at someone, then kick it in their face when they stupidly catch it.
February 18, 200619 yr comment_4532713 Antony and the Johnsons - "You Are My Sister" What a strange, heartbreaking song. I can listen to this song in a good mood and it can nearly bring me to tears. The voice is so unique and there's so much pain in the voice that you can't help but be somewhat moved by it.
February 18, 200619 yr comment_4533705 And check out 50's "Not Rich, Still Lyin'" diss of Game. When will the Game realize that 50 OWNS him for the next 4 albums? I guess he already did in his "360" -- basically, saying his beef with 50 is dead because he needs production for his next album. *insert a 50-laugh track here*
February 22, 200619 yr comment_4554236 Right now I can't stop listening to Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole's medley of Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What A Wonderful World. You might remember it as the song that was in "Finding Forrester" or the episode of ER when Dr. Green died of his brain tumor in Hawaii. Or possibly in the roughly one billion commercials it's been in. It's one of those songs you think you don't know until someone plays it for you and you're all "OMG I KNOW THAT SONG~!" It's so simple, it's just accompanied by a ukulele, but when you find out this angelic voice comes from a Hawaiian dude who was at one point over 700 pounds, it's just mind boggling. All I know is that this song is so being played at my funeral. It's prompted me to seek out more of Iz's music as I've always had a soft spot for Hawaiian tunes.

February 26, 200619 yr Author comment_4576413 You ever listen to a band so much that you don't like them anymore? I used to be all about bands like Tool, Beck & even Pink Floyd...but nowadays, whenever the songs come on, I just don't want to listen to it anymore. It's hard for me to find new music too. Usually, by "new" it means a band that's been around for awhile that I didn't listen to before. Lately, I've been listening to David Bowie and Tom Waits. I thought about this because Beck ~ "Devil's Haircut" came on Winamp and I just had to hit next.
February 27, 200619 yr comment_4578123 Warren Zevon - Keep Me In Your Heart For A While I'm shocked this hasn't been used in any of the Eddy tribute stuff yet.
February 27, 200619 yr comment_4578147 I switched up to Sam and Dave's "Soul Man", and if you can hear that and not immediately think of Dan Akroyd and John Belushi, you're a better man than I.
February 28, 200619 yr comment_4582599 John Legend - "She Don't Have To Know" I forgot great his damn album actually is.
March 3, 200619 yr comment_4596147 I just caught the video for Ghost's Back Like That and I got a sudden sense of deja vu. It seems Ghost likes to make songs where he bitches out an unfaithful ex ala "Never Be The Same Again" with another R&B crooner, Carl Thomas on Bulletproof Wallets and "Wildflower" on Ironman. Knowing old Ghost, this ain't the song I expected to be his first single but I'll give it to the kid, Ne-Yo, he can sing a little bit; I'm feelin' the hook even if it is paraphrased a bit from Jay-Z's "Song Cry" ("what I did was wack, but you don't get your man back like that!") I wonder how it bodes for the rest of the album and/or its success, however. With "Never Be The Same Again" as the lead-off single for Bulletproof Wallets, his gamble on catering to the ladies with Carl Thomas but with a topic all the fellas could relate to didn't really pan out for him. Meanwhile, for one of his most critically-acclaimed albums, he chose the decidedly radio-unfriendly "Apollo Kids" for his first single. Which is the smarter move? Mass appeal or the streets? Time (and SoundScan) will tell.
March 4, 200619 yr comment_4603073 Listened to Madonna's Confessions On A Dance Floor CD. Mixed bag, to be sure. First of all, it's surprising that she's still kicking ass on TRL every day at 47 years old, and this album has been her best-selling one in quite a while. Listening, it's not hard to understand why, as it resembles 1980s Madonna far more than the more serious, electronic stuff she's taken on in the past few years. First three songs on the album are really great pop music (Hung Up/Get Together/Sorry) and after that, I wouldn't say it falls apart, but I would say it's very uneven with only a few more songs that come close to the first three. In that way, it is classic Madonna, just because her early stuff was notorious for being singles-heavy and loaded with filler. This particular reinvention may have extended her career a little bit, though, as her planned summer tour to only do small venues and dance clubs is good for humanizing herself with her fanbase again, although it will probably be a mob scene in most places considering that she's still capable of selling out large arenas. Anyway, in short, "Hung Up" is an okay song made really good by an ABBA sample, "Get Together" may be a top 10 Madonna song ever and "Sorry" is the first real "I'm-leaving-my-man-because-I've-had-enough" disco anthem to come along in quite a few years. The rest is nothing to go out of your way to listen to.
March 6, 200619 yr comment_4611292 VHS or Beta - You Got Me I'm REALLY digging this song. If you miss the 80s new wave stuff, you should find this song.
March 8, 200619 yr comment_4617711 I'm actually watching Busta Rhymes' "Touch It Remix" video. If you don't get MTVJams, where it's Jam of the Week this week, catch it on Launch.com. I'm also listening to XMRadio online. If you're a subscriber to the service, you can create an account to listen to it streaming online plus 10 stations only available online. Sweet. In fact, I just heard a song called "Who's The Best?" by The Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z & Nas on 66 RAW XL.

Time (and SoundScan) will tell. Even though this is easily one of the more prominent radio-friendly tracks on his (advance version of) Fishscale, I don't see it getting a ton of exposure. I don't know why, but Ghostface isn't as big as he should be.
