Road Warriors Music Video

Music Video with Saito/Masked Superstar/Hennig clips EXTRA

Verne/Greg Gagne v. Mr. Saito/Nick Bockwinkel

The Gagne's send the heels scrambling to the floor early. Saito looks good bumping for Greg early and Bock ends up pinballing around for the Gagne's as well. Greg misses a dropkick but is able to hit a monkey flip onto Saito as a hope spot of sorts. Greg is isolated on the heel side of the ring. They work a front facelock and Bock goes for a suplex out of it by Greg blocks it. There is actually a "we want Verne" chant which amused me. i will say that they made the most out of the simple holds they worked and the double knockdown spot was well done but you wish the heels would have been able to string together some higher end offense. Having said that the crowd is nutty for Verne when he comes in and Verne is fun just throwing the heels wildly into each other. Saito charges at Greg on the apron so Greg body drops him over the top and then drops a diving knee onto Saito's throat behind the refs back. Verne locks the sleeper on Saito but Bock run sin and punches him in the back of the head to break it up. Bock takes some awesome fucking turnbuckle bumps and is reeling. Greg with a diving knee onto Bock for a nearfall but Bock makes it to the rope. Bock takes a great timber bump for a Greg forearm. Damn Verne still has a nice dropkick at this point and it gets a good nearfall. Saito makes it in and starts chopping the shit out of Verne. Verne tries to make a comeback so Bock runs over and claws his eyes. Bock tags in and locks in a sleeper. Verne manages to escape but the heels come in and stomp the shit out of him. The ref gets Saito out and Greg hits a dropkick onto Saito who is holding Verne and they get a three count. Post-match Bock destroys Verne with a chairshot and a piledriver on the floor until Greg makes the save. Well I have to admit that while this started sort of slow it got real great real quick.

The Road Warriors v. Curt/Larry Hennig

Opening stuff with Larry and Hawk was pretty tedious, but I got a kick out of Curts run of dropkicks and the sunset flip spot leading to the FIP. There is a clip job or two in here and you wonder how much you miss. Curt takes a nice bump off of a back elbow and sort of crawls after Hawk only for Animal to seamlessly rush in and lock on a camel clutch. The spot with the guerilla press turning into a Hennig nearfall was great and Animal's bump on the splash was great. This is looking good even with the clips and Larry get sthe hot tag and all of the sudden we have a montage musice video of various AWA stars that cuts on. When we come back there is no finish shown for the previous match. Too bad. I would like to have it in full.

Jerry Blackwell/Sgt. Slaughter v. Masked Superstar/King Tonga/Sheik Adnan Al-Kaissie (Cage Match)

Tonga trying to climb the cage didn't make since but I forgive them because Blackwell murders him with a clothesline and an elbow right afterward. Slaughter comes in and hits some punches but gets hit with a belly to back. Superstar comes in and ends up getting ping ponged back and fourth between punches from Blackwell and Sarge before smacking into the cage and face planting for a nearfall. Blackwell gets rammed into the cage and Adnan tags in. Blackwell is cut and Sheik attacks it with cast and bites it. Tonga works over Blackwell with some nice headbutts. Superstar comes in and bites the cut but then there is an awesome double clothesline spot. Superstar misses a follow up elbow but Blackwell is cut off before the hot tag. Sheik comes in but Blackwell bumps him into the Cage and throws some headbutts. He is ALMOST over to make the tag when he starts eating cast shots. Blackwell starts to make a comeback and Sheik quickly tags in Tonga. Tonga gets bumped into the Cage but Blackwell foolishly tries to headbutt him. He ends up taking a couple of nice kicks. Tonga goes for a slam which doesn't work so he just backs Blackwell into the heel corner. Blackwell comes out with a flurry of punches to Superstar and bump him into the Cage and tags in Sarge. Sarge comes in and Tonga takes an awesome wild head bump into the Cage. Sarge goes to the top of the Cage but the Cage is literally falling apart at the seems so he has to stop himself as he nearly falls and instead misses a wild diving knee off the top rope. Tonga bites at Sarge's head and busts him open and then kills him with a jumping piledriver for a nearfall. Superstar hits a sick clothesline for a nearfall. Superstar is clawing at Sarge's face and Sarge responds by trying to rip his mask off but ends up backed into the heel corner and getting drilled with shots from Adnan's cast. Sarge is able to fire back bumping Adnan into the cage and tags in Blackwell. Blackwell squashes Adnan with an avalanche and a powerslam. All hell breaks loose with Sarge knocking Superstar and Tonga out with a double clothesline and Blackwell hitting a murderous looking splash off the top to Adnan for the finish. Well this was a totally awesome match in every conceivable way.

Slaughter/Blackwell post-match interview - all the matches on this show had brief interviews but this was pretty entertaining.

This starts with some videos.

Verne & Greg Gagne vs. Nick Bockwinkel & Mr. Saito (4/21/85)

The Gagne's coming out to Hello Again by The Cars was fantastic and they cleaned house on the heels before the bell could ring but it wasn't long before Greg was caught by the heels who really worked over his neck. The fans want Verne in the ring but Greg can't get over there as the heels are relentless in keeping him away. Verne gets a blind tag allowing the heels to double-team before Saito went to an inverted figure-four to weaken Greg's bad knee. The heels were being dicks here especially Bock who was throwing some mean stomps before going for a piledriver which Greg would counter with a backdrop. We would get a double collision and Greg would finally get to Verne who ran wild as the crowd went nuts. Verne threw some good punches and the heels were bumping and selling like crazy making the boss look like a force. Greg would come off the top with a diving kneedrop on Saito's chest befoer Verne locked on the Gagne Sleeper but Bock would attack him from behind to break it up. Greg would come back in and both Gagne's would smash Bock's head into the turnbuckle numerous times before Greg hit his diving knee on Bock. Verne comes back in and continues the onslaught as Bock is pinballing around. The heels would finally catch Verne and got the heat on him leading to Bock locking on his sleeper but Verne would slip out and got his sleeper before Saito would attack from behind. Bock would pick up Verne for a slam but Greg would come in with a dropkick taking them down and Verne getting the pin. The heels would attack Verne after the match and Bock gave him a piledriver to the floor before Greg ran them off with a chair. This was very fun with the post-match angle being great and this moves forward very easily.

Next we get clips of Roadies vs. Hennig's before a video of Let's Go Crazy by Prince.

Handicap Steel Cage Match: Crusher Blackwell & Sgt. Slaughter vs. King Tonga, Masked Superstar, & Sheik Adnan Kaissey (4/21/85)

This was a blast as you had blood and violence with some great bumping and selling which are the main ingredients to a great cage match. Great stuff here and a very solid nomination.
