Barbed Wire Match: Carlos Colon vs. Jos LeDuc (February 1986) Colon rips off LeDuc's shirt and shoves LeDuc into the barbed wire and that kicks off the match. Colon is on fire here punching and kicking along with putting LeDuc's body in the wire in different ways. LeDuc is a bloody mess quickly but he would recover to rub Colon into the wire and it was nice of the camera to catch Colon blading himself in the process. LeDuc putting the wire in Colon's mouth is fun and keeps Colon in the wire in different ways until Colon kicks him in the balls which kickstarts his comeback where he showed great fire stomping away at the bloody LeDuc. Colon would pinball LeDuc into the wire numerous times before going to work on his left leg where he would lock in the figure-four where LeDuc would eventually give up. This went about 7 minutes but it was all action and the wire was used well in getting blood so I'm passing this on as a nomination.

I liked this a good bit better than the Murdoch match. Whereas the Murdoch match was more of novelty, this was just extremely violent and was worked around the wire being exceptionally dangerous. Leduc got color first and did a good job throughout the match reacting every time he touched the ropes as if the wire was piercing the fuck out of him despite the fact that there were times where it clearly wasn't. Lots of nasty close ups and visuals here, including Colon with a mouth full of barbed wire. Later Colon is spitting up blood while tangling up in the ropes with Leduc hanging on him and it's really gross as shit but you've got to give these guys credit for selling the fuck out of the gimmick. Colon ended up winning with the figure-four, but the fill of violence you want out of a match like this was there. Good stuff.

Agree that this is likely from February 86. Jos LeDuc's reign as North American champ was from Jan 6 to Mar 7 of 86.

 

I think this match came about due to the following attack that occurred at the end of a Chicky Starr vs. Invader 1 cage match on Feb 8 of 1986.

This was a very good, very bloody war. LeDuc kinda looks like one of the old school workers in North Georgia-East Tennessee indies who literally only worked to bleed for ten or fifteen minutes and put over a "rising star." I saw Gypsy Joe do that a few times when I was a kid here in Chatt. The start of this is great with Colon hitting LeDuc into the barbed wire. The part where he rips his shirt off and shoves his exposed body into the wire is awesome. What really stands out about this match is LeDuc's heat section where Colon is getting mutilated by the wire. The visual with the wire ripping up Colon's gums was vile as hell. Then we get this disturbing shot of Colon drooling blood out of his mouth like an overly graphic horror film. Colon's comeback is nice because he gets a payback spot with a low blow similar to how LeDuc took control. Colon sends LeDuc into the barbed wire a few more times then sets up the for the figure four before taking it home with the submission. Overall, I think this is a SOLID nomination. It's got the appropriate violence to please the sickos and some of those visuals were one of kind.
