The intro stuff for this show is just sad as they are at a half empty arena on the Northeastern campus.

Sarge leads the crowd in the pledge of allegiance.

Larry Zbyszko interview backstage

Larry Zbyszko v. Bob Backlund

Bob gets some solid and firing offense off early. Larry takes over by a kick to Backlund and Backlund and Larry work a pretty decent "heel keeps the face at bay on the floor" segment. Larry ends up missing a dropkick back in the ring and Backlund gets a backslide for a nearfall. Larry gets a sunset flip for a nearfall. Some more good back and fourth a lame over the top DQ finish just when it was starting to get good. Blah.

Road Warriors interview

Longriders interview. I find Scott to be really funny here. I mean this is a muscular dystrophy benefit show and he is making steroids jokes.

Road Warriors v. Longriders

the picture stalls pretty badly at one point in this one. This was perfectly acceptable slugfest style wrestling. Some nice big moves from both teams, decent pace, and the finishing clothesline looked nasty. Not great or even really all that good but respectable.

Greg Gagne v. Steve Regal

Decent. Regal has a nice Boston Crab and Gagne's cross body looked good.

Clips of Sarge walking around Boston and then an interview with him.

Billy Robinson v. Brad Rheingans

Robinson's head twist with the ankles was cool and leek looking here. There is a Michael Jackson look alike running around ringside. The commentary is among the worst I've ever heard. Rheingans hits a nice snap gutwrench slam off the ropes. Billy busts out a nice euro uppercut and his awesome neckbreaker and backbreaker. Rheingans spun out of a Boston Crab attempt and then won with a backslide. Decent work wise but nothing special.

Bockwinkel interview

Nick Bockwinkel v. Rick Martel

They do a lot of sleek looking fast spots early. Bock took some nice bumps off the armdrag, Bock hit a good gut punch, Martel got a nice nearfall off of a cross body, et. Martel goes for a reverse crossbody but ends up eating a sick punch in the face from Bock and then a nice knee to the gut both for good nearfalls. Martel with a good hope spot off of a sunset flip and then a double knockdown spot. Martel up first and he hits his backbreaker and a nice slingshot splash for a nearfall. Martel gets caught coming in and eats a knee to the face for a Bock nearfall. Martel with a backslide for a nearfall. This ends in a time limit draw. Really short. Seems silly overall to have such a short time period though the pacing was nice. EXTRA

Sgt. Slaughter interview

Sgt. Slaughter v. Boris Zhukov

Sarge did some good stuff in this. His gutbuster looked great. He took a crazy bump over the top. God damn the commentary was fucking terrible. They do a double clothesline spot. Actually this had some good punching spots and another nice Sarge bump and was pretty borderline when the flash finish killed it.

Another Sarge promo.

That picture stall comes right from the broadcast itself, and I don't think a version without it exists.

The commentary on this show is beyond awful. It was, I believe, a couple of local guys for the most part.

The show was a fundraiser for the MDA, and having aired live on TV made for a lot of really short matches. It's an odd stop for the AWA under the best of circumstances.
