The opening of this is awesome as we get the big monkey flip bump from Pritchard, the Gibson head scissors, a double leapfrog spot AND the Morton rana all in a span of about a minute. The Stable walk in and security has to hold them back from charging the ring. RnR's maintain control with some more good teamwork spots. Transition is great as Lane just lauches Ricky over the top with a slingshot and Corny smashes his throat with the racket. Ricky takes some nice clothesline bumps, one off of a good hope spot. Corny poking his head in the ring and screaming at a downed Morton was great. Morton took a nice nearfall on a powerslam. Morton makes the hot tag off a missed knee. Morton gets tripped coming off the ropes but Curtis gets knocked out on a roll up bump. All hell breaks loose with Killer Kyle running out and hitting Morton with a slap jack. Then the Studd STable show up and start brawlling with everyone. Pritchard tries to load the boot and Dutch hits the ring to grab a hold of his leg. Bobby Eaton shows up and hits a huge flying leg drop on Gibson and Dutch throws the ref in the ring not knowing what is going on leading to the title change. This is more angle than match by the end but I still think this should make the set as a match.

I loved this match. The face shine early was so damn good. The timing was great and so fast. The heat on Morton on working the neck was great as well. Of course with the Eaton gets the crowd to pop. Plus it's a WTF moment. Curtis ref bump was epic. All around great stuff. I feel this is a strong nomination.

SMW Tag Titles: The Rock n Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) vs. The Heavenly Bodies ("Sweet" Stan Lane & Dr. Tom Prichard) (1/18/93)

 

This was supposed to be RnR vs. Studs but the Studs hadn't shown up to the building yet so Corny got his boys the shot instead. This starts out per your normal RnR/Bods matches with the RnR dominating on offense while the Bods bump and sell their asses off. The Studs show up with their bags and go to Dutch saying that they had a car issue like some flat tires but as they tried to get in the ring security pushed them to the back as Dutch goes nuts. The action is fast paced and strong until Lane would slingshot Morton from the ring over the top rope to the floor in a great spot then Corny would jab him with the racket. Bods now take control and they dish out the punishment to Morton who of course takes it like a champ while giving the fans some good hope spots. Gibson gets the hot tag and the 4-way brawl is on as Corny trips Morton which brings out Mark Curtis to scold him and he gets bumped to the floor. Corny goes in the ring and the racket is introduced but RnR hits Lane with the double dropkick and Morton goes to get Mark Curtis but Killer Kyle nails him with a blackjack while the Studs come back out and they go after Kyle while Gibson goes after Golden. Dr. Tom loads up his boot but Dutch grabs the boot as Gibson goes back in the ring and Dutch throws the object to Morton who decks Dr. Tom until BEAUTIFUL BOBBY EATON shows up and hits the Alabama Jam on Gibson allowing the Bods to regain their titles. Fantastic ending to a pretty damn great match. Very strong nomination.
