Posted March 1, 201114 yr comment_5466325 The first part of this is an NWA house show that has some awesome as fuck shit on it. Col. Debeers v. Buck Zumhofe I actually liked the way they worked the headlock here. It was nothing spectacular, but they did some nice spots out of it, especially Debeers drop toehold and backbreaker escapes. Debeers going to work on the back and Buck is not bad selling the damage. Really liked the way this built actually. Debeers suplex looked pretty fucking brutal and he took a sick bump on the top rope splash momentum swing. Buck's comeback was fiery as hell and he was stiff as fuck with his forearms and the Col. really leaned into them taking a huge face planting bump on the final one. Buck then hits a series of nice looking dropkicks with Debeers taking a huge bump to the outside on the last one. Unexpected spot as Debeers hits a really nice looking enziguri and then his slingshot/backbreaker combo. Then he locked on his leg lock thingy for the finish. This was a seriously good match. Boris Zhukov/Nord The Barbarian/The Mongolian Stomper v. Scott Hall/Curt Hennig/Brad Rheingans Rheingans cartwheel too avoid Nord was incredibly funny to me. Hennig comes in and hits a really nasty looking double axe and then decks Zhukov off the apron in one motion. Damn Hennig is slick here as he ducks under a Nord boot seamlessly and then busts out two nice dropkicks with Nord taking a wild bump over the top and all the way to the guardrail as Hennig swats at him with his foot. Hennig sells a turnbuckle Irish Whip like he just got dumped onto fiery coals. Rheingans gets overwhelmed by the heels and goes FIP. Brief edit and we have Nord slamming Rheingans on the floor. Rheingans hot tag is interesting looking and Hall comes in briefly before Hennig comes in and decks Zhukov with another great dropkick. Hennig is fiery as fuck here and literally drags Nord into the ring lighting him up with chops before telegraphing a back body drop and taking a huge leaping bump off of a kick. Nice deep gutwrench suplex on Hennig. Hennig just sort of tags out to Rheingans who comes in and works over Boris' leg. Rheingans ends up getting jumped by Nord while he applies the figure-four and goes to a second FIP which is a staple of AWA tags. He gets a leaping hot tag to Hennig but after a brief run Hennig gets kicked in the face only to score a pin on Stomper with a cross body. Structurally this was bizarre enough where I have a hard time endorsing it despite the awesomeness of a Hennig. Post-match decimation of Stomper by the other heels was odd capstone to an entertaining but strange match. Larry Zbyszko v. Nick Bockwinkel Pre-match Larry raises a fuss and refuses to wrestle if Scott Ledoux is the ref so Verne has to come out and agree to a new ref which has the fans livid. Bock just runs straight into the ring and beats the piss out of him, tosses him to the floor, post him, drops him on the concrete, et. Really a brilliant way to start the match as the crowd is rocking. Bock is just great here choking the fuck out of Larry and milking the crowd for everything they've got. Bock hits a huge leaping piledriver and Larry is awesome in just BARELY getting his foot on the bottom rope. Bock blatantly chokes Larry again and they end up doing a really good looking ref bump that sends the ref to the floor. Larry ends up crotching Bock on the top rope and stealing the win! This is short as hell but I feel like I have to nominate it as it was hate filled as hell and I actually thought the finish was amazingly well executed. Sgt. Slaughter v. Stan Hansen Oh my god the beginning is awesome as Hansen attacks Sarge while he is on the floor but Sarge beats him to the punch and proceeds to beat his ass WITH HIS HAT on. He gets Hansen in the ring and slams him and then hits a sick looking series of punches right to Hansen's face. Hansen flees but comes back and eventually takes over with some chops. He knocks Sarge on his ass with a jumping knee and goes to a front facelock. Hansen knees him in the back of the head and Sarge takes his post shot. There is an insanely stiff knee thrown with Sarge on the ropes as you can actually watch his head snap back upon impact. Hansen ends up taking over on the leg of Sarge which Sarge sells well enough, but this is a situation where the longview of the camera does not the holds a lot of favors. Hansen taunting the crowd after what appeared to be a low blow was a nice "house show" moment. Hansen starts almost taunting Sarge to get back to his feet with kicks and chops and sure enough Sarge starts to fire up. Awesome sequence with Hansen eating rights, stumbling backwards into the ropes and Sarge starts working the left jab. Sarge goes for a slam but his leg gives out and Hansen hits a belly to back for a nearfall. They do a dropdown rope running spot into a double knockdown and then get up long enough for Slaughter to hit a neckbreaker that they both sell. Slaughter hits a backbreaker for a one count and then a second for a two count. Slaughter whips him into the ropes and there is a spot that looked pretty brutal as Sarge goes for a clothesline, but Hansen surges forward and just creams him with a lariat. They both work their way back up Hansen hits a slam but misses a follow up elbow. Hansen collapses in a heap after some turnbuckle shots and takes a series of guilliotine shots from Sarge. Sarge gets the Cobra Clutch but Hansen makes the ropes. Hansen misses a corner charge and takes a variation of Sarge's wild over the top bump! Sarge slams his face into the railing and goes for his running clothesline but Hansen ducks and Sarge takes an insane over the top bump to the floor. Hansen grabs a chair and goes to deck Sarge but ends up hitting the post when Sarge ducks. This goes to a double countout, but post-match they brawl some more, with Hansen going over to get in the face of fans, and the two guys literally fighting all the way to the back. In my head this should have been the greatest match ever and while it wasn't that good it was good as fuck. Road Warriors v. Long Riders One thing I like about the Irwin boys is that they don't cower in the face of the Roadies. Of course this match is all about Riders taking Roadies offense and they take it well. Lots of big leaping shoulder blocks, fist drops, leg drops, powerslams, et. Scott takes one really crazy bump to the floor. Eventually Animal does too for your brief FIP. There is a fucking INSANE pump kick from one of the Irwin's in this that almost made the match nomination worthy but the finish was pretty lame and it's not something that is going to hold up.
