Super Medico (Jose Estrada) vs. White Knight (Pat Rose) (9/19/86)

This is a fight as soon as they get in the ring with the crowd going nuts for Medico. Knight would slow the pace down but Medico would have none of that and started working over Knight's left arm. Knight to his credit though shook it off and went back on offense before Medico quickly made a comeback throwing some great punches. Medico would work over Knight before eating a knee in the corner allowing Knight to go back to work on the mat. Knight throws some good punches here as well but Medico again would fight back before going for the mask which forced Knight to foule Medico. Knight would climb up top but Medico threw him off eventually leading to a ref bump where Knight accidentally clotheslined the ref. The wrestlers continued to brawl with Medico going for the mask but Knight would toss him into the other referee which allowed him to grab some brass knux which he would use to KO Medico for the pin but Medico had his foot on the bottom rope. One referee saw the foot and the knux while the other one didn't so the decision was reversed. Knight attacked Medico after the match for good measure. This was a fun little match and I think it's good for a low-end nomination.

This is a match between two guys in long white trunks and completely white masks with totally different gimmicks. Kind of a strange match in that there wasn't a lot that was done and a few restholds that lasted for while, but the atmosphere remained electric throughout and the hope spots and cut offs were a lot of fun (and simple). The highlight of the match might have actually been the opening punch exchange which sounds like light praise, but it was pretty awesome. There were a couple of cool rope running spots and I actually thought this was one of the better executed multiple ref bump sequences I've ever seen. In many ways this is very subdued match, but I really enjoyed it.

Man alive does Medico have awesome punches. That opening punching exchange was incredible and the crowd ate it up to boot. On the surface, the rest holds weren't much but Medico was really good working underneath each time and the crowd was rooting for him the whole time. I liked White Knight's measured punches and the hope spots in this were all very good. I really liked the hope spot where Medico starts to pull off White Knight's mask but pays for it with a low blow. The clothesline rope running spot after the body press was really good too. The ending was wild with ref bumps galore and more awesome punching exchanges. White Knight slips on brass knuckles on the floor and whacks Medico with them for the win but Medico's foot is on the rope. The crowd is pissed but the first ref saw White Knight use the brass knuckles and the decision was reversed. White Knight attacked Medico post-match and hit an awesome belly to belly suplex and a great flying elbow drop. There were definitely parts of this that didn't do it for me but there was enough good in it and as a whole it was a super fun match. LOW END nomination.
