Posted March 3, 201114 yr comment_5466534 Original Midnight Express v. Steve O/Mitch Snow JIP. Condrey hits a floatover into a facelock that looked absolutely murderous like he was absolutely incensed that this greenhorn even had the gaul to touch him. God they just the shit out of this Snow kid every time he is in including one of the nastiest looking atomic drops I can recall. Finish is befitting as the punk goes for a near fall so Condrey just comes in and chucks him over the top. Not a nomination but fun. Original Midnight Express v. Steve O/Jerry Blackwell JIP. Rose takes a stumbling bump through the ropes off of a Blackwell head butt, but Condrey suckers Blackwell while the ref is checking on Rose. Blackwell comes back with the noggin knocker and he yo yo's Rose wildly in the ropes. Steve O ends up as FIP which theoretically makes since but boy he does not look very good here. Thankfully the Midnights brought some good offense and Heyman was fun at ringside working the ref. Steve O gets the hot tag and goes on the run but ends up taking a double back body drop which was admittedly impressive. Steve O hot tag, brief run, heel distraction spot for the pin, eh. Tommy Rich/Jerry Blackwell/Wahoo McDaniel v. Original Midnight Express/Adrian Adonis God damn Tommy Rich is a rope running motherfucker and hits a nice cross body here early. I was dying to see Adonis and Blackwell match up with each other but early we only got a taste with nothing to it. Adonis slam on Blackwell looked awesome and his missed splash follow up was cool too. Adonis drop toeholding Rich to cool his jets and Rose just dropping him with an elbow was a nice transition. Heat section on Rich was okay and the finish was kind of flubbed. This could have been a lot better. Original Midnight Express v. J.T. Southern/D.J. Peterson JIP though I don't think much is missing. The painted up rat in the front row that goes insane when Peterson hits a headlock/headscissors combo was really great and made better by Dangerously coming over to the announce booth and screaming to "go to a commercial!" Cool to see a babyface successfully avert the knee to the back off the ropes spot and drag Rose back to the ground with a headlock. Rose's corner charge bump looked good, but this is some heel in peril shit. I mean this is fucking DJ Peterson and JT Southern is it logical for them to dominate the first 12 minutes? Anyway Peterson does take the knee to the back after all and then gets decked with one of those sweet Condrey clotheslines. Heel work on Peterson was pretty solid with Condrey in particular looking super vicious and some pretty good hope spots. Another DQ loss for Express after Dangerously phone came into play. This was not bad but the structuring was ass backwards and really served no purpose. Music Video clips of an AWA "Chicago Street Fight Battle Royal" that looks like the best match of all time if you go by the clips with wild eliminations and Wahoo and Tommy Rich almost bleeding to death. I pray to God this exists in full. EXTRA Original Midnight Express v. Jerry Lawler/Bill Dundee JIP but I don't think anything is really missing. Lawler and Dundee hit an awesome duck down/apron lariat spot early and Lawler goes from that straight into the old "abandon the criss cross to chase the heel manager" bit which is a staple of the other Midnight Express. Condrey backs Lawler into the corner and decks him twice but it just pisses Jerry off and he drops Condrey. Dundee avoids the knee to the back coming off the ropes spot and we get the strut. I absolutely loved the sequence of stuff based on the turnbuckles, with Lawler saving Dundee, Rose trying to save Condrey and then a similar motif off of the leg press spot in the corner. Dundee is awesome cranking the headlock, while back dropping the other heel and then the heels take turn getting punched to shit. GREAT moment with Rose getting the upper hand and Dundee is still in the ring so he jabs Rose in the fucking face to cut his momentum before taking his spot on the apron leading to a Lawler fist drop and another bail to the floor spot from the Express. God Dundee creams Rose coming off the top and they do an amusing spot with Lawler and Dundee taking turns going for the cover as the ref counts half confused. Lawler lights up Rose with great punches, but Lawler takes a boot on the corner charge and then takes his awesome over the top backwards bump for Condrey's big right which is followed up by Rose slamming him on the floor. They start to work over Lawler's back. Lawler is really great positioning himself in the right way so that he can get off a hope spot but still be totally isolated in the heel corner. Nice bit of psych with Rose hitting his Vader Bomb splash to Lawler's back. Good cradle for another nice hope spot and Rose hits a darn good looking British Bulldog style powerslam for a near fall. Awesome awesome awesome spot with Lawler reaching backwards desperately when he gets shot into the ropes and JUST missing a tag to Dundee. Dundee ends up chasing around Dangerously and Lawler ducks down on a double clothesline attempt and then hits a double clothesline of his own for a near fall. Dundee comes in a house of fire throwing some sick blows, but Lawler hits the floor to chase after Paul E only for Dundee to get knocked out with a phone shot for the finish. This was a great match. I'm not sure I agree with Phil that this was better than the best of Midnight Rockers v. Rose/Somers matches but it's in the same neighborhood. Paul E. Dangerously promo. Not long enough to really mean anything but not a bad promo. Original Midnight Express v. Midnight Rockers Condrey bumps to the floor off of a Shawn punch and they do a cool sequence with Jannetty hitting atomic drops on the floor on both heels with the one on Rose being especially great. Jannetty patting Rose's ass as he leaned on the apron was an amusing taunt as well. Express goes to leave so the Rockers just grab the tag belts and the heels come marching back. Cool spot with Shawn whipping Condrey into the face corner and Jannetty stepping aside and then getting a running start to hit a big clothesline. Cool bit with the heels trying the same spot but the whip gets reversed and they end up decking each other. Jannetty does the Owen Hart style moonsault/slingshot into a hip toss on Rose. Shawn takes a sick bump on a rope running spot as Condrey drops the top rope. Condrey follows up with a sick back breaker and rams Shawn into the apron. Outside-in suplex for a near fall. Shawn goes to a rope running spot and takes the awesome flip bump on a clothesline for another near fall. Another sick Condrey backbreaker and they do a cool spot with Condrey locking on a Camel Clutch, Shawn managing to get to his feet and then Condrey desperately raking the eyes to avoid the comeback. Michaels with another nice bump this time off a fiery comeback attempt that ended on the point of Rose's knee. Rose hits his Vader Bomb move for a near fall. Shawn bridges out of a chinlock and looks to be coming back he's in the wrong corner and the Express lock on an ab stretch that's accentuated with a diving elbow off the ropes to the kidney. Jesus they do the exact same hot tag spot as the Lawler/Dundee match but here Shawn LEAPS on the clothesline and has to kick off Rose who is clutching at his feet which was a nice touch. Marty gets a near fall off a small package but Condrey breaks it up. Pretty lame ref bump with Michaels getting suplexed onto the refs leg. Marty kicks backwards off of Rose while Condrey has him in a full nelson and gets a really disputable looking pinfall. I am not sure you can call this better than the Lawler/Dundee match because of the finish being worse but they are very similar matches and on about the same level.
