Posted March 5, 201114 yr comment_5466642 Steve Regal v. Jim Brunzell Regal does hit two of his nice running elbows. Still this is textbook Regal, doing nothing of note, laying around in holds, and dragging a better wrestler down with his negative effort. Fuck him. Fabulous Ones promo Baron Von Rashcke v. Billy Robinson This was pretty fucking slow in the opening but Billy through out some nasty shit including some tight strikes, his neckbreaker and that splash to the hunched over opponent which is probably my favorite move in wrestling history. When the Baron takes over Robinson takes some really theatrical bumps which is kind of necessary as the Baron is not a guy you think of when you think of dynamic offense. Finish is kind of screwy. King Kong Brody/Adnan promo. Brody is holding his hair up like Pebbles from the Flinstones which I find uncomfortable. King Kong Brody v. Jerry Blackwell Pretty sure we have this already. Baron Von Raschke v. Jimmy Garvin Baron's strut is awesome. Anyway as a match this was not bad. Garvin brought the stalling and heel tactics and Baron did some amusing stuff and was at least fun stalking around and making goofy faces at Precious. Also the finish was one of the better heel manager distraction spots I've seen out of the AWA so far. Sheik Adnan Al-Kaissie/Jerry Blackwell v. Baron Von Raschke/Mad Dog Vachon JIP at about 8 minutes. The Baron ends up blading pretty nastily and the crowd is fucking molten. Baron breaks loose of an ab stretch with the claw but Adnan tags in Blackwell. Baron ends up fighting through with some wild haymakers and tags in to Mad Dog. All hell breaks down and these guys are throwing some nasty shots. DQ finish. Less than half a match so it can't make the cut. Rick Martel promo Curt/Larry Hennig v. Nick Bockwinkel/Mr. Saito Curt and Bock trade some stuff in the early going but eventually gets taken down and locked in an arm stretcher. Heels dominate Curt locking him in the corner and isolating him but Curt gets the tag after drilling Bock with a right. Larry gets some stuff in and then locks a really weak looking toe hold on Bock. They end up working over Bock's leg for a while and it really isn't terribly interested. Match sort of goes from there and Curt looks good in points but this was extremely disappointing. Rick Martel promo this includes clips of a good tv ambush attack of Martel by Garvin. EXTRA Fabulous Ones music video. EXTRA Nick Bockwinkel promo. Gene Kiniski promo Battle Royal Jimmy Garvin promo
January 10, 201213 yr comment_5492065 "Jumpin" Jim Brunzell vs. "Mr. Electricity" Steve Regal (11/8/84) Just a match nothing else other than Brunzell's awesome dropkick. Next we get a Fabs promo. Then we get clips of a Billy Robinson/Baron match from way back when Lord Alfred Hayes was Billy's manager. Next we have a Brody/Adnan promo. Crusher Blackwell vs. Bruiser Brody (11/8/84) This starts out as you would expect with both men beating the shit out of each other with Blackwell juicing barely a minute in. This is all Brody early on as he takes it to the bloody Blackwell who takes his punishment like a man and comes back gouging Brody in the eyes. Blackwell then takes over throwing bombs and this is yet another no frills match between these two as it's one bomb after another. Blackwell unloads headbutts on Brody and then Adnan sending him back to the floor so Brody comes back with headbutts of his own. The blood is flowing from both men as Brody drops the big leg on Blackwell but Jerry kicks out so he comes back with a kneedrop for another nearfall. Blackwell pops up immediately and slams Brody even with Adnan getting involved so Jerry brings him in and sends him to the floor. It all breaks down from here as we have a chair and a ref bump forcing the match to be called before King Kong Bundy runs him and eats a chairshot of his own. Brody attacks Bundy until Blackwell makes his own comeback. Total war and even with the screwy finish this is an easy nomination. "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin vs. Baron Von Raschke (11/8/84) The Garvin/Raschke feud was pretty fun as Baron was more wacky in these matches than normal so it was fun seeing him do comedy. The match was fine as both men had some good chemistry together. Next we get clips of Raschke/Vachon vs. Blackwell/Adnan. Then we get a Martel promo next. Nick Bockwinkel & Mr. Saito vs. Curt & Larry "The Axe" Hennig (11/8/84) This was just a decent match nothing more or less. Then we get some promos and videos to finish the disc.
