Posted March 10, 201114 yr comment_5466864 John Quinn vs. Wayne Bridges 5/10/80 - This was a heavyweight title match that started with a real big-fight atmosphere. Bridges, the native champion, really knocked Quinn around to set up the first fall. The crowd heat was crazy when the Canadian challenger cheapshotted his way back into the match. When he busted Bridges open with the score tied 1-1, I thought the match might turn into something really special. But instead, the ref stopped it and awarded the title to Quinn. What prissy bullshit. Wayne Bridges & Mark Rocco vs. Shane Stevens & Kendo Nagasaki 5/28/88 - Rocco and Bridges made for a reasonably exciting team, but their opponents failed to establish any kind of real identity. Tag wrestling just seemed like an afterthought to these folks. Johnny Saint vs. Rob Brookside 4/28/87 - This was a strong match with Saint clearly leading things but allowing Brookside to come off as real competition. I liked Brookside's bemused looks as Saint came up with increasingly off-the-wall ways to counter everything he tried. And Saint showed his whole range of weird tricks. This definitely has to be on the set. Rob Brookside vs. Bobby Barnes 5/28/88 - This was perfectly fine stuff with Barnes heeling it up against the youngster. But at only one fall, it didn't have time to develop into anything memorable. Sid Cooper vs. Kid Chocolate 11/14/81 I've liked Cooper elsewhere, but this was a nothing match with an injury finish. I'm not sure why TWC bothered broadcasting it.
