Grey was great at these matches where the primary objective was to make a younger guy look good. This one had a lot of neat fights over Grey's surfboard, which he managed to apply cleanly only once, for his one fall of the bout. Brooks did a nice job of selling his effort whenever he had to escape one of Grey's holds. He also took the first fall using a headstand pinning combo, which I'm not sure I've seen before. This ended in a draw and both guys came out looking strong. Nomination.

Steve Grey was good at most types of bouts, but he was particularly good at carrying young guys. I always feel sorry for guys who broke into the business at the tailend of television like this Brooks kid, but Grey gave him a decent rub nonetheless. The beginning of the match was excellent, but after Brooks took the first fall I thought Grey focused too much on the surfboard and the rest of the match wasn't as interesting. Good matches are pretty scarce from 1986 so this ought to remain on the block for now.
