1. Soldat Ustinov v Greg Robertson

Yep. This was like 2 minutes.

2. Ricky Morton v Dennis Stamp

This was really fun and I wish it got more time. Stamp really does look and wrestle like a low-rent Terry Funk. Stamp does some cool headlock punches and chokes Ricky in the ropes. But it's way too short and Ricky wins with a crossbody.

3. Greg Gagne v Daryl Nickle – AWA International TV title

This was real awkward and Nickle seemed pretty lost. Where do they get their jobbers from? You'd think they'd want people with SOME experience as a lot of these guys just make their own talent look bad most of the time. Gagne wins with a dropkick but Nickle kicks out at 2...time stands still, and they just ring the bell anyway.

4. Sheik Adnan El-Kaissey v Baron Von Raschke – Chicago 1981

A "classic" match that was absolutely horrible. Just a bunch of chinholds and the camera shot all the holds from the worst angles, like almost always from behind. Do you know how boring a chinlock looks from behind? Will would probably LOVE this because nothing happens, and they work holds that don't go anywhere, and the finish has nothing to do with any of those go-nowhere holds ;)

5. Badd Company v The Midnight Rockers

Not as good as the Rockers vs. Orton/Adonis match, but judging from all three Midnights/Fantastics matches from Texas set placing in the top 40, people eating this kind of shit up. Enjoyable tag action, Tanaka looked real good here, making Shawn really get high on leapfrogs and running the ropes super fast. Fans were hot for the Marty hot tag, and while this stuff doesn't always do it for me, I know it really works for a lot of other people. LOW LEVEL NOMINATION.

Yeah I dug this, if it was a little more competitive, or longer I could see it nominated. I wonder if there is any nom worthy Stamp

I am basically with Eric on this, this kind of workrate tag match will do well on the set, I would rather see Manny strap Wahoo in the face, but for this kind of match it was done well. I always like watching Pat Tanaka fly around the ring, and all the dropkicks and armdrags look good. Shitty bump by the ref though, come on DeRusha lean into it.

Have you seen Stamp/Debeers? I nominated it tonight and while it is FAR from a slam dunk it was fun, competitive, had Stamp as a really sympathetic figure and featured at least a couple of really sweet spots. Debeers was the better guy in the match, but I doubt any other AWA job guy from the period could have held up his end of a match as well as Stamp did (excluding maybe Bull Pain).
