Enjoyable tag action, Tanaka looked real good here, making Shawn really get high on leapfrogs and running the ropes super fast. Fans were hot for the Marty hot tag, and while this stuff doesn't always do it for me, I know it really works for a lot of other people. LOW LEVEL NOMINATION. AWA on ESPN Classic 5/13/08, or 5/15/08
April 13, 201114 yr comment_5469842 I am basically with Eric on this, this kind of workrate tag match will do well on the set, I would rather see Manny strap Wahoo in the face, but for this kind of match it was done well. I always like watching Pat Tanaka fly around the ring, and all the dropkicks and armdrags look good. Shitty bump by the ref though, come on DeRusha lean into it.
January 12, 201213 yr comment_5492178 This is really interesting to watch because while they work quick in spots this is a much more deliberately paced match than you would guess. They eventually build to some really fun big bumps, double team spots, rope running exchanges, et but it's not a Rockers v. Rose/Somers match that just explodes out of the gate. The set up for Shawn's peril segment seemed a bit telegraphed, but I liked the heel control segment and the hope spot that Tanaka cut off with the flying forearm was a cool moment. Ref bump, Marty gets posted, Tanaka hits a nice thrust and a non-title win for the heels. This is a much better match on paper, but I think it is something people would want to see and it should at least get consideration.
May 20, 201213 yr comment_5503090 Badd Company (Paul Diamond & Pat Tanaka) vs. The Midnight Rockers (Marty Jannetty & Shawn Michaels) (2/19/88) This is a non-title match and the first AWA TV meeting between these teams. Phil called it right as this is nothing but a strong workrate match and it was a showcase for Badd Co. to put them on the Rockers' level which it served it's purpose. After some really good back and forth action Shawn would work FIP which was solid as expected before Marty got the hot tag and the match broke down seeing Badd Co. eventually win to get their title shot the next month. This moves forward fairly easily.
