Really fun trios match with everyone getting a chance to shine. Man was MA2000 agile in 83 he looked like Atlantis or Lizmark, Pirata takes some huge Pirata style bumps, Herodes flies around really well for a big dude and Kevin fits in pretty well. His dropkicks and flying bodypresses still look impressive even when mixed in with really great luchadores. This is really dark too, so we are going to want to try to lighten it or find a better copy.

Halcon Ortiz/Mascara Ano Dos Mil/Kevin Von Erich vs. Coloso Colosetti/Herodes/Pirata Morgan (9/23/83)

This is from the 1983 Anniversario show with a rare KVE appearance. They made a big deal about Kevin working barefoot on commentary here which was interesting. Herodes kinda favors Skandor Akbar so Kevin should be used to working against this body type. MA2K was really fun here as the spry babyface working as like the Mascara Dorada of his era. Pirata was great also bumping around for the tecnicos with Herodes being a fun big man and Coloso being the glue of the match as he mainly worked against Kevin since Coloso worked the US and knew English well. All in all a very fun match that should go forward fairly easily.

Well, this is a rare treat indeed. I'm probably the biggest Kevin Von Erich fan/apologist on the net, and to see him in this setting - against my beloved Pirata Morgan, no less - is really something. And it's amazing just how easily he fits in, and without really changing anything about his style, either. His freaky athleticism, his crazy matwork (wish we got to see a little more of that, but he did open with his awesome flipping stepover armbar takedown thing that I love), and while he didn't do a ton of brawling, I doubt he'd have much trouble fitting into a good lucha brawl. Really want to see more lucha Kevin after watching this. Our man Pirata comes through with some spectacular Pirata-level bumps, including getting slammed over the top rope to the floor by Ortiz. There were also some fun supporting performances from MA2K, who works a much more athletic style than I'm used to from his later career, and the impressive bumping of the portly Herodes.

That all being said, despite this being a match made in heaven for me....I'm gonna pass on it. It basically comes down to two things. One is that, while there is a lot of spectacular rudo bumping, I didn't think there was a lot of spectacular rudo offense. It was a lot of fun watching them get beat on in the first fall, but when they took over in the second, I expect more from these guys than I got. Secondly, the third fall barely even happened, and I feel we're missing a proper third act, which will pretty much always kill a match for me. I mean, the ending we got looked good, but it was very abrupt and jarring for me. Between those two issues, I'm reluctant to support this as a nomination, as much as I wanted to based on the line-up, but it was definitely worth watching.

- Man, this is really fun with some great double and triple team action. However, has a lighter version appeared? The darkness of the footage really takes your eyes away as it is painful to watch. I want to include it but I am praying there is a better version of it out there. If not, I think we still use this although the darkness will affect people’s votes the same way VQ hurt the Ricky Morton tag on the Memphis set.
