Posted August 28, 201015 yr comment_5455086 This was a fun 6 man tag. In the prematch intro Owens really puts over Piper's guts and his thumb injury which is wrapped like a break. The 1st fall we get a Piper shine. Soon though he would hit his thumb and he sold it strong. The 1st fall was quick and effective in getting over the thumb injury. The 2nd fall was good as well. We got a fun little turmoil between partners tease between Rose and Piper. Again that was fun. The 3rd fall was some great work on Piper's thumb and some fun revenge spots. Nomination
March 29, 201114 yr comment_5468561 Oliver, Assassin & Wiskowski vs. Rose, Piper & Sawyer - 1st fall was really exciting but one-sided. Assassin gets his ass kicked and Piper drops a DDT for the pin. Really quick but I have never seen Piper do a DDT. The heels do a post-fall interview. - The faces attack the arm of Assassin to start the 2nd fall but Rose accidentally hits Piper and they have a tense standoff, make up and go back to kicking Assassin’s ass. Rose eventually plays FIP and the heels hook in front-face locks to keep Rose from making the pin. Could be more exciting but Rose gets the hot tag to Sawyer. He starts off as a ball of fire but a foreign object from Oliver puts him down for the count. - More punishment for Sawyer in the 3rd fall. Sawyer isn’t as great of a baby face as Hennig but he is serviceable. When Piper comes in, the crowd comes alive but Piper has a bandaged hand so the heels exploit the weakness and work it over. Oh crap, when Rose makes the tag, he remembers working over the Assassin’s arm from earlier and goes back to it including a flying butt drop n the arm from Sawyer. That is some match-building shit right there. With Sawyer in, the heels go back to work on his head and neck. A botched foreign object spot hurts the ending a bit but story wise it was poetic justice. Nomination. A huge brawl with Matt Borne breaks out after the match. Borne is bloodied and Rose & Borne do an interview after the match. Piper joins them and they face off with the heels. All of this has to go on.
June 5, 201114 yr comment_5472447 The heat for Piper's return was tremendous, and I enjoyed the mini-drama over how much he could use his busted thumb and the teased stand-off with Buddy. But those ended up feeling like side notes to a match I cared far less about. The first fall flew by without even feeling contested, and I couldn't get into the foreign object stuff with Sawyer. Why would you book a match with Rose and Piper on the same team and then make Sawyer the focal point? The whole thing fell flat. No vote.
July 14, 201213 yr comment_5510159 I really liked the opening fall. Yeah it was short, but it had great heat and I am a guy who thinks Piper is great at all the little things. The reaction of the heels to dropping the first fall only made it better. Second fall starts off with some fun arm work on the Assassin and I really liked the dissension spot with Buddy/Piper, leading to the huge double punch from the two men to the charging Assassin. I love Wiskowski throwing cheap shots at Buddy and in their directing traffic and using his body as a shield to prevent the hot tag. Buddy gets the hot tag off of a suplex and Sawyer gets the hot tag. Heels steal the fall shortly thereafter after a combination of cheapshots. I liked this one too. Third fall starts with Sawyer getting the thumb to the throat and knee to the face from Oliver. Sawyer fights to get the tag and Piper comes in with the most dismissively nasty headbutt ever. The heels get Piper isolated in the corner and start attacking his injured hand. Loved Buddy biting Assassin's hand to pay him back for biting Piper's hand. Piper trying to throw hands and selling the damage was a nice touch. Assassin misses a dropkick and the faces open up on his arm. Foreign object finish was semi-botched but not as bad as I thought. Really don't get the criticism about Sawyer, nor do I see how he was the focal point of the match. To my eyes this is a solid nomination.
