Greg Gagne & Nick Bockwinkel vs. Larry Z & Mr. Saito

- We open with Bock hooked in a Saito Scorpion. Man, former partners collide! Oh man, Larry Z is taking it to Bock, including his spinning thrust kick to the gut. Damn, Larry Z is bumping huge here. 1st, the reverse whip in the corner, then off the dropkick and then the collision with Saito. I agree with Dylan that Gagne’s leglock looked pretty nasty. Awesome as Bock crshes Larry’s fingers as he reaches for the ropes while stuck in the lock. When Bock tags in, he hooks a figure four on Larry. Badass. When Saito is tagged in, they use the same leg strategy on Saito and it works! Very cool. When Saito takes over, Gagne takes a pretty vicious ass kicking and Saito is still selling the leg. Nice. Nice touch with Bock saving Gagne time and again from the pin. Once Bock is tagged in, hell breaks loose allowing Saito to come off the top with a Mongolian chop so Larry can get the pin on Bock. I think Dylan needs to watch this again because this is one of the better tags I have seen today and in the AWA in general.

JIP with Bock in peril. Gagne gets the hot tag and cleans house. His offense doesn't look terribly impressive here but the heels bump well for him. Larry ends up in Greg's Indian Deathlock variation which is a legitimately awesome move. They really milk the leg stuff and ends up with Saito in a leg lock and Larry breaking it up to lead to a Gagne FIP spot. There is really nothing wrong with the work here but it's also not inspiring at all. Heels win.

Mr. Saito & Larry Zbyszko vs. Nick Bockwinkel & Greg Gagne (1/27/87)

We start this around 14:00 in the match with Bock in a Saito sasorigatame and Bock gets worked over good here by both heels. Gagne gets the tag and he runs wild on both heels before locking in his version of the Indian Death Lock on Zbyszko. This is fun little section as Gagne just wrenches it in with Larry selling his ass off then tags Bock in and he locks on the figure-four until Saito sneaks in to make the save. Saito then gets the tag in and the faces take turns working him over for a bit and it's fun watching Bock & Gagne doing sneaky heel double team tactics behind the ref's back. Larry would sneak in to attack Greg though to give the heels the advantage back and Greg gets sent to the floor for further attack by Larry. Gagne eats a Saito Suplex when he comes back into the ring then a Zbyszko piledriver for a nearfall as Bock is having to come in to save Gagne from being pinned. Bock would get the hot tag and cleaned house before a 4-way brawl where he gets the sleeper on Larry but Saito comes off the top hitting the Mongolian Chop allowing Larry to get the win. This had some fun action but we didn't even get half of this match so I'm going no on the nomination.
