Posted April 1, 201114 yr comment_5468790 Face shine segment is a lot of fun here as Miller is really good at play befuddled heel and Pritchard and Sawyer are both good fiery babyfaces. Pritchard ends up bumping shoulder first into the corner and going FIP. It was a simple spot but Miller's over the ropes smash of Pritchard's arm was really sick looking. There are a couple of really well done cut off spots with Pritchard going for the hot tag which I always mark out for. At one point Pritchard hits this really great looking jumping back kick from the corner and shortly after word tags in. Damn Sawyer has a great dropkick. Cool spot with Sawyer goign through Ebony's legs and hitting a dropkick and Ebony getting caught up in the wrong corner and just wildly running off in desperation. Awesome spot as Ebony comes back in and is teasing a handshake. He starts looking around at the crowd for approval and Sawyer decks him with another huge dropkick which Ebony takes a big bump for. Miller comes in and they do a GREAT criss cross spot that ends with...a couple of awesome Sawyer dropkicks and Miller falling backwards in fear and bailing to the floor. FUCK another great spot as Miller faces off with Sawyer while Sawyer does the chicken cluck. Ebony crawls in and goes through Miller's legs for a cheapshot but Sawyer leans down and decks him. Awesome. Miller finally has enough and is able to take Miller down and take control. Sawyer gets the tag, but shortly thereafter Pritchard gets pinned after a dropdown/lariat combo. Super fun first fall. Second fall opens with a quick dropkick nearfall for the babyfaces who take over on the arm of Ebony. Cool spot as Pritchard does a criss cross but drops behind Ebony who "loses him" and ends up eating a dropkick and getting taken down with an armdrag. Miller slips in a knee to Pritchard's back from the apron and tags in. They end up doing a double knockdown off the ropes and Ebony tries to lean over the ropes so Sawyer does the old stand on the ropes and shake them bit knocking him down. Hot tag comes and Sawyer is in. Of course this means dropkicks galore. Faces take the second fall after an atomic drop. Solid fall, though not on the level of the first. Third fall starts with Miller as aggressor and he hits a wild clothesline that he actually bumps bigger for than Sawyer does. Sawyer ends up getting the tag off of a ricochet bump. Ref bump and all hell breaks loose with Pritchard getting busted open from Ebony's elbow pad and Sawyer getting slammed on the floor by Miller. Holy fucking shit Pritchard looks like he is about to die he is losing so much blood and the heels win with an elbow drop. I thought the first fall was way better than the 2nd or 3rd falls, but the epic blade job really puts this over the top as something I can see on the set.
November 9, 201311 yr comment_5571729 I'm pretty sure this is the same match that's listed as happening on 7/21/84 in the New Portland footage. I really liked some stuff here, including the early Pritchard/Sawyer shine and the ridiculous Pritchard blade job at the end. But they really lost the rhythm of the match. After the shine, the heel control section and the hot tag, they had the crowd primed for the finish of the first fall. Instead, they basically reset the match, going to those semi-comedy spots Dylan described. I like well-done nonsense in my wrestling, but that was not the time for it. As a result, they lost me until the end of the match, when Pritchard damn near bled to death. This actually pissed me off more than a lot of lesser Portland matches, because there was some great stuff trapped within a lousy structure. No vote for me.
