Posted April 2, 201114 yr comment_5468874 Wiskowski got a little headlock happy in the first fall. But he was a large, powerful man and Martel sold the struggle to escape well enough that I didn't mind. I liked Wiskowski holding onto the headlocks through Martel's counter suplexes. Both guys did a good job selling the accrued damage to their backs and necks in the second fall, and Martel's huracanrana was a thing of beauty. They came out brawling in the third fall. The booking of the finish was interesting, in that the ref chicanery cost Wiskowski what seemed like a clean pin. Weird to put the heel in a quasi-sympathetic position, though I realize he supposedly pulled the ref into the path of Martel's dropkick. Overall, I liked the way this built from struggling over holds in the first fall to a more heated fight at the end. Solid nomination. Lynch 3
April 2, 201114 yr comment_5468899 Rick Martel vs. Ed Wiskowski (2/3 falls) - First fall has Ed grounding Martel with headlocks and leg scissors and Martel finding ways to escape. Eventually, Martel gets caught in a back body drop and Ed ends it with the headbutt. 2nd fall has Ed taking comic bumps off of knee lifts and ramming the head into the corner. Eventually, Martel wins with the huracanrana. The final fall goes by rather quick and as Martel goes for a dropkick, the ref gets in the way and is knocked out. THe ref says Ed moved him in the way and Martel gets the win. As for the match, I wasn't digging the Martel-Wiskowski matchup. It just seemed disjointed and more of a chore to finish watching the match. No vote.
