Posted April 3, 201114 yr comment_5468930 Wahoo McDaniel v. Manny Fernandez (Strap Match) Damn, Wahoo’s strapping Manny right between the eyes. Shit, Manny chops Wahoo on his ass! The crowd isn’t really into the match but Wahoo is busted open and they are beating the shit out of each other. Now Manny is busted open and this has been a war. Now, the crowd is coming alive. I don’t know what Dylan’s problem with this match or structure was. Add the head butts after, the blood, the strikes and clean finish and this is an easy nomination. I can’t imagine the matches that Schneider nominated are better than this. Oh shit, best Wahoo promo ever after the match
April 3, 201114 yr comment_5468937 Wahoo McDaniel v. Manny Fernandez (Strap Match) The pre-match with Manny cutting a promo on Fujinami is utterly bizarre and awesome. Manny is great selling the early tentative strap shots from Wahoo. God damn Manny chops the fuck out of Wahoo here. Wahoo hits a gusher of blade job and these guy just take turns chopping the fuck out of each other. Wahoo takes the strap and cracks it over Manny's head busting him open. Wahoo tries to drag Manny around the ring but Manny stops him on the third corner and ends up hitting his twisting splash. Manny goes up top rather than walking to the corners and gets pulled down which looked REALLY stupid and hurt the momentum they were starting to get. Manny kicks off and Wahoo wins hitting the fourth corner. This had what you want from these two but was not put together well and was too short. Edit: I didn't like the way progressed really. It was an enjoyable enough match but no way would I call this an easy nomination.
April 7, 201114 yr comment_5469275 Dylan you are insane, I didn't have nearly the problems you had with this structure. It makes sense for Manny to try to wear down Wahoo more before going for the pin. Also it is possible that Manny's strategic thinking skills were a little impaired from getting smashed in the face with a strap 20 times. This would have made my Texas top 20, so it is a lock for the set.
April 7, 201114 yr comment_5469276 You guys are fucking nuts. I just watched this again and while I can see it as a low level nom and don't really have a problem with it making the set, this was not an out of the park home run by any stretch. Tons of AWA better than this.
May 2, 201213 yr comment_5501503 Indian Strap Match: "Chief" Wahoo McDaniel vs. "Ragin Bull" Manny Fernandez (12/13/88) IWGP Heavyweight champion Tatsumi Fujinami is in the ring before the match and Manny cuts a great promo on him. I loved just about every match between these two and this one ranks up there with the best of them because we had double juice and both guys beating the fuck out of each other with hate in their hearts. The fans would rally behind Wahoo and we got a really good finish so that adds to this even more and I think it's a definite nomination.
