Posted April 7, 201114 yr comment_5469297 Seeing as so many of the 1980-84 arena matches are JIP, has there been any consideration to putting the JIP bouts into their own category of the set and having them voted on seperately? Something along the lines of "Top 50 JIP's" and a Top 100 for the rest, or however many JIPs end up getting considered. Even if it's 20 or something lower I think it's something to look at.. The Arena JIP's were such an integral part of AWA TV, they were always the highlight match-wise of early 80's AWA TV and should be recognized somehow. Most of them don't have enough shown to "qualify" as a match, IMO. even the "Classic Match" shown every week on TSN were bits and pieces a lot of times (bookended by full "current" matches, which was nice). The Extras portion of the set shouldn't be penalized by having to add so many good JIP's, which under the current structure I could see happening. Something like I'm suggesting might alleviate that potential issue. Just a thought as you guys slog through the process.
May 16, 201213 yr Author comment_5502701 Now that everyone has seen just how many "JIP' matches that look good but are just too short to nominate for the big list, I'm bumping this to see if there is any merit in the idea of having a "ballot within a ballot" for this project. What I mean: If there are 25 JIP matches (or however many get on the extras portion) on their own disc, is it feasable to ask the voters to rank them 1-25 in terms of stuff they found awesome and wish the full thing was available for the main set? People will be watching them anyways, so I think having them rated in some sort of format like that might create an additional buzz about the set and would allow some really good stuff to get it's due.
May 18, 201213 yr comment_5502829 Should have responded sooner but now that the project is nearing the end, being JIP will hurt the ranking of some matches (as it should) but they will be included with the complete matches. If there isn't enough of a particular match, it can go on as an extra.
