Posted April 9, 201114 yr comment_5469479 Carl Styles v. Joey Jackson This is mostly strong man stuff from Styles and some laying around in poorly executed holds. Brian Adams v. Nord The Barbarian (Strap Match) This was not as bad as it could have been. Adams sucked, but Nord took some really big bumps and hit a stiff kick. Grappler comes out and all hell breaks loose. They tie Adams up with the straps in the ropes and for some reason dump and break gallons of milk and cheerios on him. Totally bizarre. EXTRA Grappler/Nord promo. Col. Debeers v. Beetlejuice Debeers brings the bumping goodness early which always makes me happy. Debeers has enough of the cute bullshit and starts throwing some bombs including some nasty elbows to the throat followed by a slingshot. Crooked ref DQ's Barr for using steel Debeers exposed and used first. Bleh. Styles/Adams attack Buddy Rose/Al Madril with straps Buddy Rose v. Top Gun This is 1989, Buddy weighs twelve hundred pounds, and he's still incredible. Seriously he is awesome in this. He brings the heel schtick you want fighting with the ref, doing front face rakes, throwing slaps, et. He throws some vicious punches, at one point smashes Top Gun's head into the back of a post several times and then superplexes him. Best of all despite being insanely fat he takes about ten insane bumps in this, over the ropes to the floor, through the ropes, high back body drops, flip bumps in the corner, et. Top Gun is not impressive at all in this and I usually like Sierra. Finish where they brawl on the floor to a countout was not the best, but Rose leaping bump on the concrete makes up for it. Rose was still the man. Radio Personality offers 500 bucks to anyone who can get a photo with Grappler's mask off. Grappler confronts him but Piper shows up and challenges him to a fight. EXTRA Steve Doll v. Scott Peterson This had some cool spots in this including the piledriver and powerslam Naylor mentioned. Plus Peterson took a nutty over the top bump. Still this is really short and more an angle than a match with Scotty getting involved and a non-finish. Might be worth an EXTRA, I don't buy it as a match for the set. Buddy Rose, Rose Garden segment with Scotty The Body/Scott Peterson. Beetlejuice shows up. They set up a tag match with Doll/Juice v. Heels. Al Madril v. Jonathon Boyd Notable for Steve Doll attacking Scotty The Body mid-match while he is commentating. Rip Oliver v. Jesse Barr JIP. Kind of a shame we don't have this in full. Not sure how much is missing. Really fun pace down the stretch with Rip reeling big time, Jesse hitting the steel on a corner charge and Rip winning with his shoulder breaker. Ali Hasaan/Assassin promo Curt Hennig v. Ali Hassan (Iranian Death Match) Will is right about the uselessness of the gimmick, but man do they go after each other with cruel intentions early. Seriously they are both throwing bombs and wrenching everything in deep. I thought Hennig's torque on his chinlock almost looked dangerous. Hennig also took a top rope turnbuckle bump super hard, a nice bump to the floor and I liked his cross body pin for the first fall a lot as a desperation move that was also believable. Hennig gets jumped at the bell and man Hassan is a gnarly motherfucker. Really loved his standing dropkick as it is hard to make a standing dropkick look violent and he managed to make it work. Hennig comes back and chucks Hassan to the floor and posts him. The post shot was the weakest looking thing in the match but Hassan sold it like death. Hassan is bleeding and Curt goes for another crossbody but whiffs and eats a neckbreaker for the second fall to even shit up. Hassan is fucking bleeding something fierce in the third fall, throwing shots with his Iron Sheik boots and just looking sick. Hennig powers up on a chinlock that actually looked violent and comes back with big shots. Shit gets incredible as they battle back and fourth with ball shots! Hennig hits a massive atomic drop and Hassan takes a huge wild bump to the floor. Hassan comes back with a sick shot to the throat once he is back in the ring and just starts pulling at the eyes of Curt making an awesome facial expression in the process. Hennig fights back and they go to a slugfest spot. Both guys go for a double dropkick and time runs out. I actually did not mind this finish at all. This was a fucking awesome, violent match.
