Los Invaders (I y II) vs. Chicky Starr & Ron Starr (5/25/88)

 

This starts out in a brawl with Invaders taking it to the rudos and the fans going nuts. The rudos get pounded here as Invader II throws some great punches here especially on Ron then the rudos do the accidentally striking of each other which really gets the fans going. Ron would catch Invader I in the running lights with a knee as he charged into the corner leading to the rudos control section where they focused on turning Invader I's mask sideways so he couldn't see. Invader I then took his own mask off and worked his way to the hot tag on Invader II who cleaned house leading to a 4-way brawl with Invader I & Chicky on the floor and Invader II & Ron in the ring. Both rudos juice and Ron would use a chair on Invader I on the floor before bringing it to the ring where he would hit Invader II then the referee as fans pelt the ring with trash as the bell rings. Invader I juices on the floor and taps a gusher as the rudos destroy Invader II which brings out Colon who gets whacked with the chair as well and also juices. This is total destruction by the rudos and I'm going to throw this on the block as a low-end nomination but it needs to be on the set someway either as a nom or an extra.

This is a studio match so that's kind of neat. Ron Starr is a couple of years older here and looks like, fat old man Jacques Rougeau. The opening goes about like you think with the Starr's bumping around and getting there ass kicked. Then they take over by twisting and yanking at the mask of Invader 1. They aren't trying to unmask him, but instead are trying to blind him so that they can get in their licks against a defenseless man. Eventually he has enough and rips his own mask off and the fight is back on. The faces bust open the heels and have them reeling, when Ron pulls down the rope on Invader 1 and fucking destroys him with a chair. He's laying in a thick pile of blood on the floor and then the Starr's hop in the ring and beat the piss out of Invader 3 with a chair. The match gets tossed out and Colon comes out for the save and they beat his ass with the chair too. The match itself was solid, but the angle really got this over as a big moment and it was cool to see the heels lay all the big stars to waste.

This was pretty great. The pre-match video package is a huge help and the pre-match itself is fucking insane with the crowd showering the Starr's with trash. The face shine in this is incredible with every punch leading a chant from the crowd. In fact, the crowd is still throwing shit at the Starr's during all of this. Chicky's "come on over" signal to Invader II was great which led to Chicky punching Ron. I also loved Chicky sending the "screw you" signal to the Invader's on the apron. The heat segment was cool because the Starr's switch Invader I's mask around and work him over while he's disoriented keeping him isolated and from making the tag. Invader gets an opening and rips the mask off and kicks ass with awesome strikes then makes the hot tag. The hot tag is great with more duel punching/crowd chants. This goes into a wild bloody brawl with both Starr's getting posted and bleeding. Eventually, Ron Starr holds the ropes down on Invader I sending him crashing to the floor where he bloodies him with a chair. Invader I just lays there with his face in a giant pool of his own blood and it literally looks like a crime scene. The Starrs double team Invader II and bloody him with a chair then Colon comes out but receives the same treatment. The crowd is incensed during all of this and it's great. I actually liked this a whole lot and think it's an EASY nomination.
