Posted May 1, 201114 yr comment_5470641 Top Gun v. Abudda-Dein (Coal Miners Glove) I love that they are opening the show with a Coal Miners Glove match. This was okay. Pretty standard stuff really. Mainly notable for the post-match run-in with Buddy Rose grabbing the glove and trying to attack Top Gun. Al Madril v. Steve Doll Madril really has a routine with Sandy Barr down as this is years later and he is still sauntering around, complaining of hair pulling, doing the same teased fisticuffs spots, et. I was surprised at how well Madril got over for Doll's stuff here. Doll took a really huge bump off an over the top bump. Madril ends up opening up on Doll's taped up hand, stomping it, smashing it, biting it, et. Madril gets methodical with really stiff shots to the face but ends up eating the double knees on a splash attempt and then bumps big off of a back elbow and a dropkick. Madril chucks him to the floor in desperation and they end up going into a bit where each guy keeps the other at bay on the floor until time runs out. With a real finish I might have tossed this a low end nomination. Top Gun promo setting up a hair v. hair/coal miners glove/llt match with Buddy Rose Art Barr v. C.W. Bergstrom Art Barr is green and looks green here. He does a couple of cool spots but some of this stuff just doesn't fit right. Bergstrom is a biggish guy that for some reason is working workrate style and not well. Abudda-Dein/Buddy Rose interview. Rose's promo is really spirited and he is wearing a great t-shirt. EXTRA? Buddy Rose/Art Crews v. Steve Doll/Scott Peterson (2/3 Falls) The announcer suggesting that Buddy Rose killing himself wouldn't be as bad as Top Gun retiring was nice. Art Crews flies around some early and complains to the ref. Buddy ends up coming in and jumps up and down which causes Buddy's fat to jiggle and gets a great look from Buddy. Buddy is awesome cowering in the corner from every Doll offensive attempt and bitching at the crowd. Peterson gets caught in the heel corner and worked over. Crews ends up accidentally decking Rose and knocking him into the first row. Rose gets double dropkicked to the floor and Doll/Peterson take the first fall with some double team offense. Second fall is really short with Rose taking some nice bumps and winning on a roll through off of a Peterson crossbody. Third fall is Peterson in peril. Peterson makes a comeback and there is a double dropkick near fall on Rose as time runs out. Not a great match, but the first fall was pretty entertaining and this is something that probably should at least be watched. Southern Rockers/Top Gun interview. Buddy Rose/Abbuda-Dein interview.
